Chapter 10: A Door to Everything

"Planet Earth"

Invincible was punched across the night sky and through multiple clouds by the Immortal. Blood gushed out from his mouth. However, his crimson teeth merely formed a sinister smile.

Invincible: I've been hit harder before. Like way harder, hehe.

Immortal: So arrogant! Just like your father. 

Invincible's smug face appeared to be almost caved in from another power punch of Immortal. 

He crashed through cloud to cloud as Immortal grabbed onto the kid's leg and threw him down into the outskirts of a city. 

Invincible spit out some dirt and rock and scoffed from the surface 

Invincible: You think that's gonna be enough-

*YANK*

Immortal firmly grasped the neck of Invincible and lifted him deep into the sky. He tried to get free but the grasp was too strong and he had no leverage.

Invincible: Why can't you trust me?!

Immortal: After what Omniman did, after what you did? You're dead!

*SLICE*

Immortal: What?!

A red flash dropped down and cut right through Immortal's arm, freeing Invincible. 

Omniman: Hey. 

Immortal: You! 

Omniman: Yep. 

Immortal: AHHHHHHHH!!

He charged right at Omniman only to meet a quick 3 blow combo: a blow to the chest then to the neck followed by a swift chop that decapitated his head.   

It flew right off and in the direction of Invincible who caught it. 

Invincible: Immortal your way of this. 

*SQUISH*

Now covered in Immortal's brain matter, Invincible wiped it off his goggles and turned to his father who appeared to be reminiscing on something. 

Invincible: Dad?

Omniman: The Immortal lived for thousands of years trying to make this planet better for all of its people. I thought he'd see the truth. Like you did. 

Invincible: I think he was trying to lead us away. 

While the pair floated in the air, their eyes stared right at the burned down and destroyed city that once was Chicago. 

Omniman: So, we must be close. 

Panning to the city, multiple survivors struggled to get food and basic necessities. Some merely kneeled down at the rubble sitting atop their families bodies. 

And through it all, a message played on a large screen across the tallest skyscraper in the city that still stood. It said the following: 

Invincible: "People of Earth, we know you feel like we're the bad guys because me and my dad took over the planet. But you're going to be part of the Viltrum Empire now. That means no one goes hungry, no one dies from cancer, and no one ever messes with Earth again. Look, I didn't get it at first either. But I came around and you will come around, too. And in the long run, you'll thank us. But you need to remember, the more you resist, the worst it's going to get. We didn't destroy your cities. You destroyed them by fighting back. Our new Viltrumite rulers are on their way and it's time to join us in welcoming them. And if you still think you can stop us... don't forget this: I'm... Invincible."
