"Have a good night everyone!" Beomgyu heard Taehyun announce as he exited the bathroom, watching his best friend as he dragged Kai up the stairs to their room. They looked happy, and Beomgyu hoped that their love story would be way better than his own, at least.

He had left Taehyun back in the bathroom and headed up to his own room, feeling weirdly empty and confused. Everything was starting to fall apart, as they were no longer able to keep up with the lies and distinguish between fake and reality.

He sat on his bed, lost in his thoughts. When Taehyun had kissed him back in the washroom, the man had not been his usual gentle self, and his face looked tormented when Beomgyu left him. It sent pangs of pain down his heart. Beomgyu was unsure about a lot of things, but there was one thing he was sure of... he had never felt this much anguish for someone else before. He chewed his lips anxiously, not knowing how much time had passed until he heard footsteps and the door opened, revealing an extremely tired-looking Taehyun.

"We need to talk." Beomgyu whispered softly as he looked up.

"No, we don't." Taehyun said as he changed his shirt and sat on the other side of the bed.

"What did I do wrong?" Beomgyu asked, his tone desolate.

"Nothing, Beomgyu. Just leave me alone now, go to sleep." Taehyun sighed.

This was what Beomgyu didn't like. Taehyun kept putting up a wall of defense between them, and he could feel the familiar bubble of irritation stirring up inside his stomach.

"Taehyun... stop keeping things inside, and just tell me." Beomgyu said, his voice getting harder as a frown appeared on his forehead.

"You have no right to sound annoyed with me." Taehyun replied, his tone cold.

"For fuck's sake, Taehyun, can you just tell me what I did wrong so I can try to fix whatever is wrong between us?"

"Stop acting so oblivious, Beomgyu!" Taehyun yelled. "You don't know what you did wrong? What you are doing wrong?"

Beomgyu started waving his hands around, gesturing for Taehyun to lower his voice, but Taehyun was tired—tired of this act when it had started to become all too real for him.

"No, Beomgyu, listen. This isn't fun anymore; you are literally ruining the other two's happiness as well. Why are we even doing this anymore? This isn't about you trying to show Yeonjun you're happy. This is about you trying to make him jealous, to see what he's missing."

"What the fuck, no?" Beomgyu denied, feeling anger soar through his body at the accusation. "I never wanted his pity, and I don't want it ever. That's why I'm doing this. What am I going to get out of making him jealous?"
