I frantically look around. The speedometer rises to 75mph. James leans forward and turns the radio up as high as it can go.

The wind blows my hair around and I place my hands over my ears to buffer the noise. I look over and see James take a flask out of his jacket with one hand. He takes the other hand off the wheel to unscrew the top. We start to swerve as he takes a large gulp from the flask.

"What are you doing?" I scream over the music.

He stops drinking, laughs, and grabs onto the wheel with the hand holding the top of the flask. He presses the gas pedal to the floorboard and we zoom past the 35mph speed limit sign.

"James!" I scream.

He continues to laugh.

"Pull over right now!" I yell.

"Whatever you say, baby," he responds, pulling over to the side of the rode into some brush.

We come to a stop and he turns the radio on low. Swinging an arm around my shoulder he starts to lean in.

"James," he muffles my words with a kiss. I struggle for a few moments and finally shove him off.

"What, Baby?" he slurs.

He starts to lean in again and I place both my hands on his chest.

"You know how I feel about drinking."

He groans and shifts forward again.

"Stop it, James!" I snap.

"Oooh," he growls. "She feisty," he starts to crawl over the console separating us.

"James, I'm serious," I say and shove him off.

I start to open the door and he grabs my wrist.

"Sophie, get back in the car." The joking tone is out of his voice. Like cold stone. His voice growls.

I try to shake lose from his grasp but he tightens it and I wince.

"Let go of me," I say calmly to him.

"Fine," he says letting go of my arm and I quickly pull away. "You'll be back," he says and reaches for the door handle, slamming it shut.

I grab my wrist and watch as he speeds down the road away from me.
