On Friday nights I usually stay home with a rented horror movie while my friends are out at parties, but that night, I decided to go with them.

"Hey Mom?" I shouted from my room.

"Yes, honey?" she shouted back at me from the kitchen.

"Can I go to a party with a few friends?" I asked, my voice sounding a bit squeaky. I heard no reply from my mother, "I'm going with Brian, Alex, and Justin. Come on, you love Justin!" I begged.

"Well of course you can go then, just dont cone back after One and no bringing girls home or you'll be grounded and I don't think you would want that!" She warned.

I threw a fist in the air and immediatly called Justin to let him know I can come, I then paced to my closet and picked out an outfit. I walked to the bathroom and took a quick shower.

---

I heard ahonk of a car outside my window and saw Alex's black Nissan in the driveway. "Mom, I have to go. The guys are here, bye." I said, running down the stairs and pecking my mom on the cheek.

"Have fun, honey!" She said, I could feel excitment in her voice. I didn't go out of the house much and it worried her sometimes.

"I'll try!" I yelled as I ran out the door and into the backseet of Alex's car.

---

We arrived at the Cate's - the hostess of this party - house a few minutes later and parked the car. I walked out after the guys and stood behind them, feeling a little anxious because this was my first party in at least a year. It's not that I wasn't invited to any, It's just that I never felt like going. I am an outgoing person though, at least thats what people say.

Alex immediatly spotted a few of his friends and walked towards them, telling us he'll meet us later. Justin, Brian, and I walked into the crowded house and got ourselves a drink - non alcoholic of course, or at least that's what we thought.

After an hour or so, and about four more drinks, we were completely wasted. Even Brian was loud and... social, and he was known as the awkward, quiet guy - which he is, most of the time.

I ended up making out with with a girl from out of town, pretty sure her name was Bethany, and getting her number. How this happened? I am not completely sure. From what I remember, she complimented my clothes and we started talking, then we danced for a bit and the next thing I know, she is pinned against a wall and we're eating each others faces.

At around 12AM, Alex finds me and tells me we have to go home. I nod and help him find the rest of the guys.

We find justin sweet talking a girl in the living room and Brian in the kitchen, downing drinks with the football team. We pull them out of the house and into the car and drive home.

We first drop Justin off at his marvelous house, then Alex dropped me off. I said my goodbyes to the boys and walked toward the front door.

I took out my keys and unlocked the door. I tiptoed my way around the house, hoping not to wake up my parents. I walked up to my room and sighed as I sunk into my soft bed. I took out my phone and went through my contacts until I found the one I was looking for, Bethany. Still on the affect of alcohol, I decided to text her.

Me: Hey Bethany, It's Lynn - the girl from tonights party , or actually last night. I was thinking we could maybe go to a movie sometime, tell me what ya think.

"Send," I said to myself, and hit the send button. I then turned off my phone and took a warm shower to get rid of the smell of sweat and alcohol that had stuck to me.

When I came out and put on my pajamas, the time was 1:30AM and I thought I was going to collapse any second, so I brushed my teeth and got in the covers.

---

The next morning when I wake up, I find my mom hovering above me.

"Mom, you scared me," I said sleepily.

"Sorry," she said, "How was last night? Did you meet any new girls?!" She asked eagerly.

"Why do you care?" I chuckled. I sat up and felt a sharp pain in my head so i lay back down.

"Did you drink?" my mom asked me in a slightly angry tone. She took a step back, crossed her arms, and furrowed her eyebrows angrily at me.

Good question, I don't know, I thought to myself. "I don't think so," I said, "when we arrived, Cate gave us something to drink. I didn't think it was alcohol, but it might've been."

Mom sighed and sat on the end of my bed. "Come here," she said and opened her arms, signaling me to give her a hug. I got up slowly and hugged her. She squeezed me a bit and I winced. "Sorry, Lynn." She said, and kissed the top of my head.

"I know exactly what you need to help with this hangover," she said. I was now sitting downstairs in the kitchen, while my mom was making some magical drink. I looked out the sliding doors that led to the patio in our backyard but immediatly looked away because the light felt so strong.

A minute later, Mom handed me a mug filled with thick, dark liquid, I furrowed my eyes at her. "Drink up, I promise it'll help," she said, confidently. I sighed and took a sip, the liquid tasted gross but I kept drinking until I finished the whole thing.

"Good, now go lay down on the sofa." She demanded and I did as told.

"Mom. Where's dad?" I asked, suddenly realizing my father wasn't home.

"He's at the doctor's office, he'll be back in a bit." She said, holding my cat Frodo.

"Frodo! Come here!" I said. My mom set Frodo down on my lap and he immediatily started to purr.

---

At the early afternoon hours of that day, I was sitting in the basement with a slightly hungover Justin, watching some stupid comedy movie when I heard my phone vibrating.

Bethany: Well, I would be glad to go to a movie with you if I knew who you were.

I looked at the text message in confusion, remembering the text I sent Bethany last night. Did Bethany trick me? Did I get her number wrong?

Me: Umm Lynn  from Cate's party ? We made out for like a long time last night . You gave me your                     number?

Bethany: Well... Lynn, this is not Bethany. I didn't even know Cate was throwing a party. Or who Cate is. Sorry, kid.

Me: Oh I'm so sorry. Sorry for bothering you, you can move on with your life now.

Well that was embarrassing, I thought to myself. I decided to keep this number in my contacts and simply change the name to 'Unknown'.
