Those Three Words

Day 2.1

Mika wakes up lying on a coconut leaf. The sea - just a few steps away. The sun is high and the salty air is caressing her face.

Mika: Anak ng... parang nasa set lang ng 'Castaway' ah.

Mika... hindi 'to oras para sa biruan. Seryosong fanfic 'to. nu be?

Okay. TAKE TWO!

Mika: Ang init lang. Shet. Pero sa'n ba 'to? And how in the world did I get here? Wala naman ako'ng maalala na... Shit! Wala akong maalala! 

Dito natin malalaman na nagka-amnesia si Mika...

Mika: Ano? Ako si Mika? Sa'n ka ba? God? Ikaw ba 'yan?

Oo at hindi. Hindi ako si God. Narrator lang ako. At oo, ikaw si Mika. Ang usapan, hindi mo dapat sa'kin malaman. Mamaya pa. Nakikita mo 'yang dalawang tao na 'yan sa shore?

Mika: Oo. Ka-kilala ko ba sila? ... Oh my God! Hunger Games ba 'to? Anak ng!

Makinig ka muna. Please. Bago ko i-turn off 'tong loudspeaker. Stranded kayo sa island na'to. At may amnesia ka. Kung pa'no, secret na lang. Good luck!

Mika: Uy! Teka lang! Hello? Kuya! Manong? Aray! Ang sakit nun ah. Sa'n ba galing 'tong sugat na 'to. Malapitan nga 'tong dalawang 'to. Gutom na 'ko. *her tummy growls*

Mika approaches the two girls sitting by the shore.

Mika: Ah... Miss?

Ara turns around to see her, automatically jumps from her sitting position and throws her arms around Mika.

Ara: Daks! Gising ka na! Okay ka lang ba? May masakit ba sa'yo? May nilagay ako diyan sa sugat mo baka sakaling gamot 'yun. Ano? Masakit pa ba? Miss miss ka diyan! Pektusan kita sa ngalangala eh. Gutom ka na no?

Ayun, tuwang-tuwa si Ara samantalang inaalis ni Mika ang sarili niya sa pagkakayakap ni Ara.

Mika: Ah. Teka lang ha? Let's take it slow.  Iisa-isahin natin 'yang pinagsasasabi mo. Una, akala ko ba ako si Mika. Eh sino naman 'yang si Daks?

Ara: *confused by Mika's question* Ano ba. Mika ha. Huwag mo 'kong niloloko.

Mika: Hindi nga.

Krystal: I'm telling you. She probably has an amnesia.

Mika: *turns to Krystal* At sino ka naman?

Ara: She's asking who you are.

Krystal: Oh. My name is Krystal.

Mika: And we're supposed to be what?

Ara: Teka nga muna. Daks, wala ka talagang maalala?

Mika: Unang-una, hindi ko alam kung mapagkakatiwalaan kita. 

Ara: Daks.

Mika: Stop calling me that.

Ara: Naks! English! Okay, Mika. Ikaw 'yan. Mika Aereen Reyes. That's your whole name. 

Mika: Go on.

Ara: Umupo nga muna tayo doon. Ang init eh.

Mika: O sige. Habang nagsasalita ka.

Krystal: Can you two speak in English? You might be conspiring to eat me or what.

Ara: Ah! Okay. Here. *to Mika* I am Victona-

Mika: Start with me, first.

Ara: Okay. You are Mika. 18 years old. Female.

Mika: Nagpapatawa ka ba?

Krystal: English!

Ara: No. You are an incoming 3rd year college student, taking up AB - Psychology, next semester. You are a varsity volleyball player. You are 6 in your family.

Mika: Ikaw?

Ara: I am Ara Galang. We're teammates.

Krystal: Liar!

Mika: And you are?

Krystal: Krystal Jung. I am korean. A Korean celebrity. We're friends.

Mika: so we're friends? Like long time friends?

Ara: No. but siguro ngayon, friends na ka-

Krystal: Long time friends. You used to go Korea since your family has business there and -

Ara: Ha! Okay, wait. This is not funny anymore. Stop fooling around.

Mika: What is this? It's not easy to be in my position, okay? And whoever is trying to be funny here, please just stop. I want the truth.

Krystal: I just told you the truth.

Ara: What? Mika, huwag kang makinig sa kaniya.

Krystal: Ara, if that's your real name. I don't know what you're trying to stick inside her head but please, there's no way Jennifer Lawrence will pass on her Oscar's Best Actress Trophy to you at this very moment. So shut it. Mika needs to relax and more than that, she needs the truth.

Ara: I am telling the truth! What's wrong with you?

Krystal: i don't know what you're up to but please, if you're not going to quit this, stop talking to us. Come on, Mika. We're going to get you something to eat. 

Krystal grabs Mika's hand carefully and pulls her away. Ara stands up and grabs Mika's other hand.

Ara: *looks straight at Krystal* Just take care of her.

Mika: I am not saying that I actually believe her but I am going with anybody who can give me food right now.

Ara: *smiles* I know. Alam na alam ko. Ikaw lang naman ang bestfriend ko'ng matakaw na hindi lumulobo.

Mika suddenly looks at Ara with what comes between sadness and confusion. She immediately shakes herself off from her gaze upon realizing that she still isn't sure whom to believe between the two strangers.
