Day 1

Zombie apocalypse.

Soulless rotting bodies groaning and moaning.

Endless starvation for fresh meat.

Running in frenzy, wanting to take all of you inside their mouth.

Zombie apocalypse.

That's my greatest fear.

But that's before I found myself in a fetal position, chilling by the shore.

I am alone.

When I say alone, I mean I can hear the sound of my stomach growling, my heart palpitating, my blood rushing to my head. I hear everything. Crickets. Waves. I can hear every muscle of my tongue trying to push saliva down my dry throat.

I want to bury my body in the sand for warmth, but I am really incredibly tired. I just want to close my eyes so bad. But there's something that's keeping me up...

Who am I?

It's weird, isn't it? When you wake up and you just feel the invisible urge to stay alive and the last thing you want to know is your name.

The light of the moon unravels the mystic features of this side of the island, whatever and wherever this island is. It's like in a dream. The universe is the sea and the sea is the universe. I tried to sit down. It hurts. I felt a sharp pain from the corner of my right eyebrow.

I touched it softly and traced it with my index finger.

The cut is as long as my pinky. Suddenly, I heard something.

Voices.

Something is approaching from the other side of the shore.

All I can make out of it are two figures.

Two.

If it's some wild animals or brain-eating walkers, I don't know.

What I know is they're running towards me.

Fast approaching.

Nearer and nearer.

I did not know what to feel.

There's fear.

If there's more terrifying than zombies, it's cannibals.

Oh, God!

Not here. Not now.

Can you at least tell me first who and where I am before you suck the life out of me?

Then there's joy.

It's odd, right?

But I felt absurdly joyful as I dropped down again, back first.

I gazed at the moon like how you watch a cute puppy chasing its own tail. And with a sigh I said, "I am leaving it all to you."

Last thing I remembered, before I finally went into a seemingly long sleep,

a human figure blocked the moon from my sight.

And it's screaming...

"Mika? Mika!!!"
