Karkat was talking to the police as Dave sat down to try and recuperate. Karkat had his cell phone and had dialed the police as soon as Bro busted through the door. He knew that he'd have to explain to Dave but he knew he did the right thing. He explained to the officers what had been going on in the Strider household and they decide that because Dave had the bruises and Karkat was an eyewitness, that Dave could choose what he wanted to happen. They could put Dave into a home until he got a job and found a proper place to live, or he could stay with a close friend or relative. They explained the procedure to Dave but he didn't really listen. He just curled up on the couch and let Karkat do his talking. Karkat called Kankri and he gave the okay to have Dave stay with the Vantas' until a court order was given. As for Bro, they said he'd be locked up for a while. The crowd he was hanging around gave him a bad rep so now he was under more than just one charge. After about two hours of paperwork and talking, the police left and the house was silent.
Dave hadn't left his spot on the couch since the begin of all this so Karkat slowly went and sat next to him,
"Dave...are you okay?"
He reached over to touch the other but he shrugged him away.
"Dave I'm sorry..But I couldn't let him continue.."
Karkat knew he was upset, but just not sure about what. Dave looked at Karkat, his eyes red and puffy.
"How could you do that Karkat? How could you call them?"
Dave didn't enjoy his brothers abuse but hell, it was better than being alone to him. Karkat could break it off anytime and that he knew, his bro was one thing he could count on in his life right now. Now he didn't even have that.
"Dave, look, I know you're mad but-"
Karkat was cut off but Dave grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and standing up. Due to Karkat being smaller than him, he was off the ground completely.
"Mad?! I'm not mad! I'm fucking confused on how one person could be so fucking stupid! Do you know what he'll do when he gets out?! He'll kill me! He'll kill you and your brother! Do you not understand! Karkat you're so fucking stupid!"
Karkat had tears in his eyes and he was visibly trembling. He didn't like this and he was scared. He didn't know Dave had this side to him. Dave's eyes were almost red and he flung the other into the floor, knocking the wind out of him. Karkat struggled to breath as he looked back up at Dave. Dave shook his head and was looking at what he did and he almost ran into a wall
He grabbed a shirt and his shoes and he bolted out the door, leaving Karkat alone.
He ran all the way back to that sleezy apartment building and didn't even stop at the door. He walked in and straddled on the some guys lap, he didn't recognize this guy but he didn't care, he knew he process goes.
"I don't give a shit what it is, just give it to me"
The other guy smiled, kissed Dave's neck and within a few minutes Dave was gone.
Karkat finally managed to catch his breath and he sat up, his eyes still tearing up and his hands shaking violently. He stood up and started to clean up whatever mess he could find, it helped distract him. Kankri would be home any minute and he'd just stay close to him to much sure he was okay. He could still hear Dave's words echoing in his head and he continued to silently cry. Those words brought back bad memories and he wanted with all his power to just forget them. Kankri walked in the door and saw his trembling brother and without hesitation he ran to his side. They didn't say anything but they moved to the living room and just put on a movie. Kankri had a big thing for the movie Grease. Karkat never knew why, he assumed it was John Travolta that he liked, but he only guessed. They ended up falling asleep as Karkat's nerves and anxiety subsides. He was worried about Dave; where could he have gone?
Dave was naked and being kisses by some guy that he didn't even know the name of. They fucked but Dave didn't feel anything at the moment. He was tripping on something and he could just feel the ecstasy of numbness. He was aware it'd take him a few hours to home down to so he got dressed and went for some coffee. The lights outside all were brightened and intensified, it was like a rainbow on every street. He got his coffee to help his comedown and he started walking back to Karkat's house. He had forgotten what he did earlier, he forgot about Bro and everything troubling him, he just remembered being with Karkat and feeling better, so that's what he went back looking for.
It took him about forty five minutes to get back. He got lost a few times and his head was spinning. He heard horns honking and people talking about couldn't place where any of it was coming from. He was starting to slowly come down and it hurt. His bottom half was sore as hell and he was trying not to whimper due to the pain in his head. He finally managed to find the Vantas house and he knocked on the door. He leaned against the door and knocked again, he was still tripping but just barely.
Karkat woke up to pounding on the door and was startled at first but then ran to it and opened it, knowing it was Dave. Dave walked in and hugged Karkat tightly. Karkat stood still and let the other hug him. Once they parted Karkat's arm swung back and he punched Dave in the jaw. He winced and grabbed his hand, that hurt more than actually getting punched. Dave grabbed his jaw and was both impressed by the small boys strength and confused because he didn't expect it to hurt him as much as it did.
"Okay okay, I probably deserved that." he groaned.
Karkat had one hip out and his arms crossed,
"You're damn right you do, asshole" Karkat was angry but he was glad the other was safe. He looked at the there's eyes and his pupils were super dilated.
"Dave are you tripping right now?"
Dave looked the other in the eyes and all of a sudden everything disappeared and the world went black.
