I scan the crowded hallway, and my eyes land upon Hayley and Frankie, talking by my locker, obviously waiting for me. I'm assuming they want to know all about my night with the boys, but especially Hayes. Their eyes land on me, and they give me "the look", telling me to go to them right away. I do as they say, not wanting to hold back a single detail any longer.
"So, how was your night with HAYES?" Hayley asks me, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Yeah, did you KISS?" Frankie adds, puckering her lips.
"The night was great. It was a sleepover with all the boys, and me and Hayes did NOT kiss. It would have been pretty rude after finding out that Daniel likes me. Hayes almost murdered him," I laugh, hopefully stopping them from further pestering.
"Daniel likes you?" Frankie gasps, obviously shocked. Well, I guess that's a no for further pestering. "Wow, that's a surprise."
"Ooh, DRAMA!" Hayley squeals. Hayley loves all things dramatic. She loves epic love triangles, dangerous quests, and thoroughly enjoys spreading rumors that will likely become wildfire. Want to know if your boyfriend's cheating on you? Go to Hayley. Want to know if your mom's having an affair? Go to Hayley (okay, not really on that last one, but it did happen once).
"Hayley, if you spread that, I will literally kill you," I say, glaring at her.
"You'll literally kill her if she spreads what?" Hallie asks, coming over, pulling her basketball bag further up her shoulder.
"If I tell anyone that Daniel likes her even though she's dating Hayes," Hayley smirks. I gasp and smack her shoulder.
"Wait, you're dating Hayes?" Hallie asks, obviously in shock. I nod. "Oh my god you guys are sooooooo cute! But, don't tell my sister. She'll go all, well, KAYLEE on you."
"You mean, make her life miserable?" Frankie asks.
"Yeah, pretty much," Hallie responds, opening her locker, which is next to mine. She lifts up her soccer bag, places her basketball bag down, and plops her soccer bag back on top before collecting her books. "Okay guys, I got to get to class, but I'll see you guys later. Will I be seeing you at the volleyball info meeting third period Monday, Gab?"
"Yeah," I reply, grabbing my second period books from my locker. I double check my schedule before closing my locker. American Lit. How fun.
"Come on, you know how Mr. Frieze gets when we're late," Frankie reminds me, pulling on my arm. Well, I don't really remember how he gets, but if anyone would, it would be Frankie. She's ALWAYS late.
"So what are you doing third? You should sign up for volleyball with me and Hallie," I say.
"Um, no thanks. I'm not sporty. And besides, I already had my elective meeting, and I made the core dance team. And Hayley made the elite rec dance team. We're all set."
If you didn't know, my school is all for extracurricular activities, but they don't want people to spend too much time after school, so they set aside a free third period for the entire school where you can either choose a sport, an art, a language, or just have a free period. But no one really chooses a free period, because electives give you extra credits. We also have a first period language, but you can change it into an elective with parents permission. But, no one really chooses that. Hallie is the only one in our grade doing it. She does first period basketball, third period volleyball, and after school soccer. If you couldn't tell, she's the really sporty type. I, on the other hand, just play volleyball.
"So, for VB, do you want to make JV, or varsity?" Frankie asks me.
"Well, first of all, it's not VB, it's volleyball, and second of all, I'm a freshman, so JV is pretty much all I've got. Besides, there's only like four weeks left of school. This mainly sets us up for next year, when we're sophomores and have it all year round, remember?"
