"So how do you feel?" Joanna asked me.

"I'm alright," I replied, when in reality I missed Connor dearly. It's been about a week and a half since Connor left for tour and the late-night phone calls, texts, and Skype just doesn't satisfy my needs.

"Claire," Joanna said, raising an eyebrow.

"What?"

"You are such a liar!" She said, laughing.

"I am not! I'm completely fine."

"Did you know that getting defensive is a sign of lying?" Brick asked as he walked by Joanna and I.

"But I'm not getting defensive."

"Yeah, sure you aren't," Brick rolled his eyes.

"Claire, it's okay to miss him," Pauline said, the only one here who is speaking in a calm manner.

"I know," I said.

"Aww, so you do miss him?" Joanna asked, raising a hand over her heart. Joanna always had a soft spot for anything related to love and/or anything sappy. She can quote every teen girl romance movie like Braiden can quote Buddha.

"Ermahgerd, that is so über cute," Brick mocked. "Tell me more about you and Connor because I can't get a love life of my own."

"Brick, stop being annoying. I'm tired of dealing with your stupidity."

"Whoa," Pauline, Brick and I all said at the same time.

"What?" Joanna asked.

"Did you just call him Brick?" Pauline asked.

"I think she just did," I said, grinning.

"Does this mean Joanna actually knows my name?!"

"I never didn't know your name; Brick was always so stupid. Why would you ever want to be called Brick?"

"Not even the nastiest of comments from you could make me forget about you calling me Brick instead of Steve. I think we are growing into a close relationship, don't you?" Brick directed to Joanna.

She rolled her eyes and in response said, "Whatever. Just be quiet."

"Anything for you, my dear Joanna," Brick said. "Or can I call you Cinderblock?"

She just glared at him. He went into further explanation. "Like Cinderella, only Cinderblock, because I'm Brick, and we would be apart of the building industry and-"

"I was serious when I said to stop talking."

"Alright, got it," he said, laughing at Joanna's hatrid of him. He kept quiet in front of Joanna for the rest of the day. Their antics humored me greatly.

Unfortunately, those antics didn't stop the unwanted questions from them.

"But really, how are you feeling?" Joanna kept asking. It was really sweet of her to care so much about how I was doing, but honestly, it didn't help too much.

"I'm fine."

"One of the biggest lies I will ever hear from a human being," Joanna said, shaking her head in disapproval.

"Claire, we can tell you want to smash your face into the coffee blender and turn it on," Brick noted as he began to wipe the counters.

"So?"

"So that means you need to get something off your chest," Joanna said. "We're all friends here, Claire. Well, most of us are..." she paused to glare at Brick.
