I had cried myself to sleep that night, simply contemplating what I should do. My life was fucked up, granted, but I had somewhat of a life. I mean, where would I go exactly? I always thought it'd be great to get away, maybe live the free life for awhile, but would it be worth it? I was almost 18, so I used that as a sort of reason against my nonrational idea.

The next morning, I was rudely awakened by the sunlight barely glistening through my bedroom window.
"Fucking cunt," I murmured to my window.
I rubbed my eyes and went to my mirror. Oh God, I looked like an ogre. Good thing it was a Saturday, and I wasn't going to leave my room until I got some shit sorted out. I grabbed my phone, only to find that I had forgotten to charge the damn thing.
"Ugh, dammit."
I quickly plugged in my phone, and as soon as it was charged enough, I turned it on and texted Carmen.
"Hey, come over, dude," I texted fairly quick because I was in the process of stripping out of last night's Pajama's.
"Uhhh, I have a... Family thing.. Sorry."
That was weird.. Carmen just blew me off.. Well, maybe she really does have a family thing. Anyway, I continued changing into some clean clothes.
As the day continued on, I couldn't stop thinking about the text Carmen sent me. Was she avoiding me? No,she wouldn't do that, right? I pushed aside my thoughts, and although I said I wasn't leaving my room, I headed out to the park. It was a fairly nice day, and I needed some sun for sure. On my way out, I say my dad asleep on the couch. My mom was no where to be found, so I assumed she was still asleep. I found some paper and a pen and I wrote a note to stick on the fridge.
'Went to the park. If you need me, call my cell. Bye.'
I quietly walked to the park. I wasn't upset, but I wasn't happy either. It was like I couldn't feel anything at all. As I approached the park, I saw Carmen talking to Lucas.
'That's weird', I thought to myself.
I stayed quiet and ducked behind the nearest bush. I listened to their conversation.
"Why am I here, Carmen?" Lucas inquired.
"I told you, it wasn't safe where you were. I'm sorry you're hiding. It's not fair, I know. Please understand I'm doing it for your good though," Carmen replied.
"I know... But, what about that girl... Uh, Sam is her name, right? She is going to find out sooner or later," Lucas said matter of factly.
"Don't worry about that. She has alot going on right now. She won't even suspect anything. Right now, she thinks you're just the weird kid next door. No offense."
"None taken," said Lucas.
What was going on? I was so confused. I sent Carmen a text that read: "Hey, meet at my house in 25 minutes, please?"
"Okay.. I'll be there, but make it 30", replied Carmen.
She was being do weird. Nothing was making sense.
