My alarm clock rang, jolting me from my sleep. I sat up groggily and turned it off. Stretching, I got up and got dressed in a blue sweater, and jeans with blue Converse. I brushed my auburn bob of hair and put on chapstick to my dry lips.
Then, eating breakfast quickly and brushing my teeth, I went back into my room, hoping that I hadn't woken up my parents.
Yes, I know. I'm 21 and I still live with my parents. I know I should be out hanging with friends, and partying, or something. I should probably get a better job too, but, honestly, I just didn't have the time. I did work part time at a pizzaria delivering pizzas via motorcycle, but it didn't pay too much. It didn't help that I was basically friendless, and my parents were both out of a job. Oh, and, not to mention, we live in a tiny, squashed trailer in the middle of a junkyard.
But I was really fine with that. I had time to work on my own inventions, and so did my parents, who get their money from their inventions. The scraps in the junkyard are good for prototype material.
I grabbed my current creation and strapped it onto my back. I then reached for my bag that was filled with supplies I needed, but I accidentally knocked my alarm clock off of the table in my tiny room, and it hit the carpeted floor with a soft bang! It rang louder than ever.
"Crap!" I muttered to myself, hurrying to pick it up and shut the alarm off.
Too late. My parents were stirring, I could hear them across the hall. I quicklly shoved my contraption under my unmade bed and jumped into my desk chair, pretending to be writing on a piece of paper when my door opened.
My mother stood there sleepily. She wore a stained pink nightdress and her graying brown hair was in a messy bun. There were worn bunny slippers on her feet, her glasses askew.
"Dear, are you alright in here?" she asked.
I looked up abrubtly, my freckled cheeks probably blushing slightly. "Uh, yeah ma..." I grumbled.
Her grey eyes bore into my electric blue ones. "If you say so!" she said. "I'm going to make us some pancakes!"
"No ma, it's fine, I already ate.."
"Ooh, are you sure! You're so thin!"
"Yes ma..."
My dad came out of his room in a grey bathrobe that matched his hair. His tired face looked at me, wrinkled with smile lines.
"Well, since you've already eaten, take out the garbage, why don'cha?" he asked.I rolled my eyes. "Fine..."
They were seriously delaying my plans. I lugged the garbage bags outside and out to the front of the yard. Trudging back inside, I went past my parents, whom were now eating pancakes in the cramped kitchen.
I went back into my room for a while. Eventually, around 8:30, they finally were out of the house. I grabbed my invention and bag and crept outside wearing a light jacket over my sweater. I could hear my parents on the other side of the yard. I quickly scrawled a note saying I was going to be in the city for a bit and took off.
I ran down the road to the bus stop, my feet crunching in the light layer of snow blanketing the sidewalk. Once I was there, I was panting slightly. I sat down on the cold, hard bench at the bus stop, checking my watch. The bus should be here in another minute- I had made it just in time.
Surely enough, the bus rolled onto the unpaved road shortly after I had sat down. I climbed on, my bus token in hand.
"The radio tower in Ninjago city," I stated, handing the driver my token.
