Threne's Pov

One night, I dream of a certain memory from my childhood.

"How many times do I have to tell you, Threne? Never bring any stray animals in my household!" A sigh of disbelief escape from my lips when I heard my mom yelled from the kitchen.

I can't help letting out a grunt as I walk towards my mother who has her eyes narrowed.

"Mom, please understand. I can't leave that poor kitten on the streets. She's too young to look for herself. And I don't think the mother will return."

"I don't care. I just want that horrible thing out in my house! Just put that back or bring that to those hideous shelters you're so proud of."

"They are not 'horrible things' mother." I correct her.

"Whatever." She rolls her eyes as she continue to speak.

"Just get rid of that cat. I'm warning you. This will be the last or you won't like what I'll do the next time you bring another one."

My mom left after that conversation, leaving me behind with the poor kitten playing on a toy. I let out a sigh again as I reluctantly pick the kitty up.

The kitten looks at me with those shining innocent eyes.

"I'm sorry little kitty. I guess I never learn, but I can't help it. I just want to give you a home. Yeah, shelters are nice. But there's slim chances everybody will get chosen unless you are lucky. Well, atleast you won't live on the streets anymore." I explain,my heart feeling down as second passes.

Holding the kitten gently, I walk towards the nearest shelter and deliver her.

"Please don't hate me for this. I wanted you so badly, but you know I don't have a choice. Don't worry, I pray that you will have a loving family, little one." I whisper at the kitten as I place a soft kiss on top of her head. My eyes tear up when the kitty is still pretty much looking at me.

I wave my hand as a gesture of saying good bye. I left feeling sad and disappointed. It was always like this whenever I parted with them.

It sucks. And it hurts.

Opening my eyes, the blinding lights of the sun seeps through the curtains and bask me with its warmth. I sat on my bed and wipe a tear from the corner of my eye.

Come to think of it, I have always love animals ever since I was a kid. Dogs, cats, bunnies, you name it. I always look forward in adopting a pet, but my mom wouldn't want that. She hated having animals in her home. I don't know why but she clearly detested them.

After cleaning myself up, I walk downstairs and saw my mother sitting on a sofa with a grim expression. I can't help but grow more suspicious when I notice an envelope on her hands.

"What's with the sad face? It still early in the morning."

Her lips lift up a bit and before I knew it, she hugs me.

"...We're moving out."

I push her a little and look at her face.

"What do you mean mom?"

She gave me a sad smile and push the envelope on my hands. Opening the envelope, I read the contents and every single words brought terrible shudders on my skin.

"You will be transfer overseas?"

"Yeah. The company wants to transfer me so we need to move out."

"Mom! Does...Terrence know about this?"
