Threne's POV
I carefully rise up from my bed. Still feeling the coolness of the thin and soft material on my skin. I suddenly wince when the side of my stomach aches out of nowhere. I pull up my shirt and questioningly, the bruise got patch up.
What happened? I don't remember anything.
My attention went to the door when it softly open. There stood my bestfriend who is looking worridly at me.
"Miley! Thank God your awake!" she exclaims as she walks and gives me a bone crushing hug.
And the idiot hits the most painful side of my stomach causing for me to howl in pain and grip her shirt signalling her to stop.
Hera, who came back from her senses, looks at me with a worried face. Trust me, she looks like a fish.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I almost killed you! Are you okay now?"she exaggeratedly said.
Okay, can I slap her?
"You're too much overreacting. By the way, what happened? Where am I ?"
She questioningly stares at me.
"You collapsed inside a pet shop. Then I saw you being carried. I just followed you here in the hospital."
Oh yeah, I think I remember it now. I was actually buying some collars for my pets.
MY PETS!
I quickly gets off from the bed, but Hera stops me from leaving the room.
"What are you doing, you idiot!? You've just woke up and now your leaving?! You're not completely healed yet. What if you lost conciousness again, you bird brain?!"
Ouch! That's too much!
"I can't. My pets are waiting for me. Wait, how long was I passed out?"
She looks at the other side and bites her lips.
"One hour."
My face harden as I smack her head.
"Ow!"
"You're lying! Hera, please..."
She bites her lip again and sighs. She grasps my shoulder and looks directly to my eyes.
"I'm going to tell you, but don't leave."
It depends.
"24 hours."
I almost faint again. 24 freakin hours! I quickly got up and went to the door.
"I gotta go. My pets need me."
"Are you nuts? I said not to leave! Threne Miley Whitefield! Your bruise is very big and swollen. Do you want it to worsen up?"
I face Hera and smile confidently.
"I dont care."
I quickly turn on my heel and walk away. But suddenly got stop when a hand grasps my shoulders.
"Okay, okay, okay. But I'll be staying right beside you."
I nod.
Hera first goes to the doctor and explains some things. After that, she comes back in the car and starts driving.
"So, how's your bruise?"
"It's not that painful anymore."
"Good. By the way, where did you get that?"she exlaims as anger creeps up to her face.
I gulp. An angry plus worried Hera is not a good combination.
"Uhm well, I was saving a dog from its abusive owner. And well, the owner is actually a hoodlum. He kicked my stomach very hard. That's why I got the bruise. But don't worry, the police arrested him."
I can feel the atmosphere thickened as she grips tightly on the stirring wheel which turned her knuckles white.
"I'm gonna kill him." Her tone is filled with malice causing for me to gulp again and smile nervously. I wince when the bruise pains a bit.
"So, what happens to the dog?"
"I adopt it."
"As expected. No wonder you said 'pets'. That means many."
"I only got four."
"Cool, you don't have to be lonely because you got companions. Tell me about how you get the other two."
I told her how I adopted Jiro and Matthew. She listened intently and nodded.
I wonder what my pets are doing now. Are they worried about me? They must be hungry.
I look at the scenery outside, admiring the passing trees. I sigh when the cold wind harshly brushes my skin. I close my eyes. Something swirls in my stomach, and it's not because of the bruise. Its's very unpleasant. I'm worried. It feels like a bad thing will happen. And I won't really like it even a bit.
"Hera, can we go faster?"
"Why?"
"I just have a bad feeling."
The car accelerates, and I have to brace myself as the harsh cold wind slam on my face. As the car turns on the left road, a hue of blue color stand out from the rest of the neighborhood.
It's my house.
When we finally arrive, I quickly got out from the car and quickly went inside. Its dark. Obviously because no one is home. Only my pets.
"Guys?"
No response. No bark and no meow.
I hurriedly went to the switch and turned the light only to find out the house is empty. Panic rises deep down my body as I search every corner of the house.
"Guys? Ean? Matthew?"
I look under the couch, tables, chairs but no sign of furry pets. Tears start swelling from my eyes as Hera tries to calm me. Fear and negative thoughts erupted in my mind.
"Miley, calm down"
"Jiro! Reed! Where are you guys!? Im home!"
I bite my lips and slap my forehead.
Wait, I haven't check my bedroom yet.
I quickly run through upstairs and open my door with a bang.
There in the middle of my bed, my furry pets huddle together. I sigh in content as their heads spin towards me.
Ean's eyes gleam with happiness. He pounces on me and licks my face. I wince when he lightly hits my stomach. Reed barks happily and went on joining our licking session on my face. Matthew just stares but relief is written in his eyes. Hera giggles at the picture of us but frown soon after. I too stop laughing and my brows furrow in confusion.
"Miley?"
This is the last room I check. My pets stare at me worriedly like they're trying to tell me something is wrong. Yes, something is really wrong. They won't come to my bed without my permission and it isn't like them to huddle with each other. I gasp and try to form the words that is stuck on my throat.
"Where's Jiro?"
