Luke

"Hey Michael, got any more of those around?"

Everybody stopped what they were doing at that moment and looked at her. We were surprised, to say the least. She never drinks... ever.

"Uh, Kaylie? You okay?" Ashton asked. He glanced at me, but I just shrugged. I was just as confused as he was.

"Of course I am. Now Michael, do you have any more beer? Or should I go out and find some somewhere else?" Michael just shook his head and walked into his kitchen.

"Keeks, come outside with me. Now. Please," I said, grabbing her hand and walking toward the front door. She trudged behind me, obviously not wanting to talk about this.

"Do you mind telling me what the hell is going on right now?" I asked, shutting the door behind us.

"Yeah, I do mind actually. It's nothing. I don't want to talk about it right now. Not here."

Oh. So something did happen. And I wasn't there to help her. Again. That's great.

"Then we can leave. We can go home and talk about it if you want..."

"No. I want to stay here. Get my mind off of things," Kaylie said, suddenly very interested in her shoes.

"I could take your mind off of things..." I suggested, smirking. Pulling her closer, I leaned down and softly left a trail of kisses along her jawline, then her neck. She sighed, putting her hands up against my shoulders.

"Luke..." she whispered. I just shushed her, kissing her on her forehead, her nose, and finally landed on her lips. She kissed back for a second before pulling back, just as the door swung open. I dropped my head, swearing at the culprit under my breath.

"Oh uh sorry, Michael was wondering where you guys were and he sent me to get you... sorry," Ashton said, giggling and walking back inside. Kaylie turned to go but before she could I pulled her back.

"You gonna tell me what's so bad that it's driving you to drink? You've never done that. What makes you so eager to now?" I asked her, tilting her head up slightly so that she was looking at me.

"I promise I'll tell you when we get home. Later. Okay? Now's not the time."

I nodded as she laced our fingers together and walked back inside. As I took a seat on the couch she walked over towards Michael, who was holding out a beer for her to take. "Thanks Mike," she said, sitting down on the couch next to me.

-

We had been inside for maybe fifteen minutes when Kaylie had already downed four beers.

"Slow down babe, you alright?" I whispered to her. She rolled her eyes at me.

"I'm fine, stop worrying. Get up and dance with me."

"You know I can't-"

"Michael, can you put on some music? Pleeeease?" Kaylie requested, drawing out the last word. Michael glanced at me, unsure, and turned on his music. I just shrugged at him and walked into the middle of the room with Kaylie.

I knew she would be upset if I didn't at least try, so I made a fool of myself and danced awkwardly around the small room. This ultimately resulted in her busting up laughing, making me blush.

"You really can't dance, can you?" Kaylie said in between fits of laughter. Instead of answering, I walked over to her and swooped her up, twirling around once before seeing her back on her feet. She giggled, grabbing my hands and pulling me to her like we were going to slow dance. So we did. We were slow dancing to Kids in the Dark by All Time Low, which seems ridiculous, but I didn't mind.

After dancing about for a while, I got tired and decided to sit back down. But Kaylie just pouted, looking disappointed that I left.

"You're no fun. Fine. Sit. Michael will dance with me." She walked over to him and pulled him to where I had been standing before, dancing with him. I didn't know what to say so I went into the kitchen to grab another beer, finding Calum there too.

"What's up with her? She's not usually like this..." Calum mumbled. I just shook my head. "I don't know. Something must be wrong though. But she won't tell me what it is."

"Whatever it is you might want to figure it out soon man. I mean, she's way more outgoing after a couple of drinks, but it's just not right. Hope whatever it is isn't as bad as it seems," he said, patting me on the back and going back into the other room.

"What the hell Michael?" I heard Kaylie yell
as a glass bottle shattered on the floor. I ran over to where Calum was standing to see that what was going on. Calum had dropped his bottle at the sight in front of him, and honestly I would have too if I hadn't left it on the counter behind me. Michael had his hands a little too close to Kaylie's ass, and his lips a little too close to hers. And by a little too close, I mean on them.

She shoved Michael back, looking at him with a look I didn't quite recognize. It wasn't nice, that's for sure.

I kept my calm as I made my way to them. "Kaylie, go sit down. Please," I told her. Michael's face dropped, and I'm pretty sure it felt like his stomach did too.

"Listen dude, I didn't mean to I swear-"

"What the hell do you think you were doing? Touching my girl like that? You're out of your damn mind, that's for sure."

He tried to start again, but I wasn't finished. "No. Listen to me. You touch her one more time and you will regret it. Screw you, man," I finished and walked over to Kaylie.

"Let's go home."
