Kaylie

Luke hopped out of the car, telling me he'd be right back. I sighed and waved him off.

A couple minutes later, the garage door opened and out came Luke holding a big bin filled with who-knows-what. Slung across his shoulder was his duffel bag he brings on tour with him. Why would he need that?

He waddled out to the side of the car, asking me through the open window if I would please open the back for him.

I climbed out of the car and opened the back door as he put the bin and duffel bag on the backseat.

"What's in there?" I asked, though I knew he probably wasn't going to tell me.

"It's a surprise! You'll find out when we get where we're going," he said, with that stupid smirk again. I rolled my eyes and got back in the car.

"You ready to go?" Luke asked me.

"As ready as I'll ever be."

-

"SAY IT AIN'T SOOO YOUR DRUG IS A HEARTBREAKER," Luke and I yelled at the top of our lungs in the car, smiling wide.

We had been driving for hours now, not caring about anything else except for what was happening in that moment.

I hadn't seen Luke this happy in a while, and to be honest, I haven't been in my happiest place either lately. But this was one of those moments where we were both content just being together.

"We're almost there!" Luke said excitedly after the song ended. I looked around, seeing nothing but beach and trees. What is he talking about? There's nothing else for miles....

"By almost there, how close are we actually?" I asked him, feeling a bit drowsy. I covered my mouth to stifle a yawn.

"Uh... half hour? You can take a little nap if you want, I'll wake you up when we get there."

I just nodded and closed my eyes, drifting off.

-

I woke up to light streaming through the windows of the bedroom. No, not my bedroom... Luke's car?

I sat up (too quickly, apparently) and looked around, my head pounding. There was a tent set up outside and two chairs placed next to each other beside a small fire pit.

Beside the fire pit was a frantic looking Luke Hemmings. He was cooking something over the fire and him, being the clutz he is, almost dropped the pan in the flames.

Luke recovered and scraped what looked like eggs onto a plate and grabbed a juice box from the bin he brought. I laid back down once he started walking back, not letting him know that I was awake yet.

With my eyes closed, I heard him try to open the car door with his hands full. It took him a couple minutes, but eventually he got it and I had to constantly remind myself to not laugh.

He must have set the breakfast down some place, because the next thing I knew, Luke was peppering my face with little kisses. When that didn't get me to open my eyes, he poked my side a couple of times. I crinkled my nose involuntarily and hoped he wouldn't notice.

"Good morning princess, how'd you sleep?" So he did notice. Or he just knew I was faking it. I slowly took a breath and let my eyes flutter open. Giving him a little smile, I replied, "Good. You didn't wake me up when we got here like you said you would?"

"I assumed you would want to stay asleep, it was late anyway. You hungry?"

My stomach growled at the mention of food. But when I sat up, the pounding in my head said it wasn't such a good idea. I groaned and slowly laid back against the seat. Luke chuckled.

"I brought you some Aspirin cause I figured you might need it. Here ya go," he said, pulling out two pills and grabbing the juice box from the dashboard where he set it down before.

After I swallowed the pills I thanked him, asking him how long it took to set up the camp site.

"It, uh, took a little while..." I raised an eyebrow at him. He continued. "I kinda had to ask someone walking the beach for help..." he blushed.

I giggled. "It's okay, you did a great job babe. I'm proud of you," I said, and kissed him on his nose, which he crinkled shortly after. I nudged his arm, smiling.

"Feeling okay enough to eat? I made you breakfast," Luke said, grabbing the plate from the dashboard. I nodded and took it from him, asking him where his is. "I already ate, had to have energy if I wanted to put up that deathtrap of a tent," he said, jokingly.

After I finished eating and talked a bit more with Luke about whether the chicken or the egg came first - the chicken came first, in my opinion- he asked me what I wanted to do today.

I looked around, seeing what my options were. "We should explore. You know, see what's around here. Go on a hike," I suggest, glad that I wore my tennies to Michael's last night.

Luke thought for a second, probably about where to hike. "Sounds good to me, I'm ready when you're ready." I smiled, opening my car door.

"Let's go!"
