CAMILLA

I wake up. Stretching my arms above my head. I feel a dull ache between my thighs and I blush as I remember what happened.

Cole groans beside me. Probably annoyed at getting woken up, he pulls a pillow over his head.

I lick my lips, eyes closing again but then I remember something.

Something isn't right.

My eyes go wide when I realise. Surely it's nothing serious, right?

I pull the alarm clock that was sitting on the nightstand next to me and turn it toward me.

It reads, 3:09 PM

Roughly an hour since Xavier and Richard went to the diner to get food.

It shouldn't have taken that long.

I shake Cole. My hands trembling with fear. "Wake up! Xavier and Rich are missing!" I whisper-scream at him.

He groans again and squints open his eyes, seeing the frantic look on my face makes him sit up straight, more solemnly.

"What is it, baby? What happened?"

"Xavier... Richard—they're supposed to be back now," I say.

Cole furrows his brows, and sleepily turns to look at the time. His eyes widen when he sees that it has—in fact—been an hour since they left.

"Oh shit."

Me and Cole managed to dress in record time and after spamming Xavier's number with missed calls and messages.

Suddenly, a ringing sound fills the air. Cole swiftly moves over and hits answer, I saw the flash of the name Xavier.

I blow out a breath of relief which quickly goes away as I hear the conversation.

It all goes so fast. Cole's face falling with devastation and the caller tells him they've got Xavier and Richard.

The next step, Cole had barely told me after he hung up, was to rescue them with resources at The Soul-Eaters Foundation.

I hadn't known there was such a thing.

But then, creaking of the door and the sound of the wood breaking apart makes me freeze.

I turn around as soon as the door bashes open, Richard and Xavier beaten up but alive.

They are being held by four large men. They all wear balaclavas.

Behind them, Dorian.

My chest aches. Of course. We can't trust anyone.

I can feel Cole's anger vibrating off him with aggression. I could imagine he is fuming after knowing that the man who swore he owed his soul for Cole, suddenly betraying him.

Dorian grins as he walks inside, telling the men to throw Xavier and Richard on the ground.

They land with an oomph.
