CAMILLA
My new tattoo is healing well.
I'm sitting with Richard in my new living room. It is a cozy little space where I invite Rich over to talk.
He is a comforting person to me to be honest.
After the trauma we shared after being kidnapped, every time I feel sad or upset, he is always the person I call over.
It helps that we live next door to each other.
Richard holds a cup of tea in his hands, "Holy shit, Milly. He tattooed you?" He gasps.
I blush, feeling my cheeks heating and nod.
I'm about to say something—defend Cole that it isn't such a scandalous thing when Xavier and Cole walk in.
Xavier grins his charming old smile. "Hello, love," He walks toward Rich, pulling him close.
Richard sets the cup down.
Cole walks toward me, pulling me in his lap, I face toward him, playing with his dark strands of hair.
"Hi, Cole," I whisper.
"Hi, baby." He kisses me.
When we finally get comfortable, I ask him, "Why are you here? Is there something wrong?"
Cole smirks, "Why? Am I not allowed to
see my fiancée once in a while?" He gazes at my large diamond ring with possessiveness in his eyes.
"Mine," he murmurs.
I blush, pushing him away.
Then he says, "Do you remember asking to kill Adam? He's been in our basement for a month... are you ready to see him?" Panic immediately fills my chest and my eyes.
Cole sees this and quickly starts pulling me closer, "I know I said it before but... I don't want to see him... ever again." I confess meekly.
"I don't want to relive that moment." I add.
Cole nods like he understands, "Of course. You can just watch me."
I nod in agreement and smile softly. "I'd like that."
A few moments later, we're in the bleak basement. The sight bringing back memories of the warehouse and I shiver.
"It's okay, baby." He whispers, "It'll be over before you know it and he'll be gone. Forever." The words make a little comfort rise in me.
I see Adam immediately, chained against a wall like I was, covered in blood and bruises, like I was... except there is a shit-eating grin on his face.
"Oh would you look at that. It's the whore Camilla." Adam says, his voice rough and cracked.
"Shut the fuck up, Blair." Cole sneers, "You're going to die today."
Adam's face falls, "No. No. You can't do that, my father won't allow it—"
"Don't give a fuck," Then, he pulls out a gun but then I do something I never thought I would.
"Cole, give me the gun," I murmur so quietly I almost think Cole didn't hear me.
But he did. He stares at me shocked but swiftly hands over the gun.
I test the heavy weapon out in my hands, watching it back and forth.
Then, I look at Adam, remembering all that happened in that tragic warehouse.
"You're a piece of shit, Adam," I say.
"Please, Camilla—"
I shoot my ex-best friend right between the eyes.
I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to hold back tears but it's impossible.
I can't get rid of the memories with him as a child. But I can create new ones with my new family.
With Cole, Richard... and even Xavier, I feel complete.
And with Adam gone, no matter how sad, it feels like a weight is off my chest.
Cole pulls me into his big arms, I feel drunk against his love.
I always thought I was loveless in the past.
But now? With Cole holding me in his arms, my past finally left behind, and a whole new family?
I was never loveless after all.
