The next day arrives and I feel perfectly fine, my mom being the doctor here and all comes to see if I have a fever and I didn't, said I didn't even look sick. So they were talking about what to do and I heard one person say and I quote "Maybe it's cause she's younger it takes longer" and with that one statement I got a whole week in the room, by the end of the week we all assumed it didn't go deep enough into my flesh. So we moved the beds back and everything was back in order. A few days later we were going to a toy store because Ethan was tired of some of his toys and it would be a fun treat for him. Mollie, Dovie, Ethan, Zoe(her baby), Graser, Dallas, Johnny, Keith, Steve,Ross, and Darry all went. We were going to look around for more supplies for the moving trucks they had found on a earlier run. There were small but there was three of them, one for guns/ammo kind of things, second one was for food, third one is for miscellaneous objects such as blankets, clothing, books, photos, etc. They are a mile away from where we are at all times, but since we are in a house they are just a mile away from there, just in case anything happens. We recently came up with that because everyday we have been seeing this car full of men coming by, they'll just sit right across the street and just do whatever it is that they're doing. Mollie and Ross cleared the building and we then let Ethan free into the shop with his mom there by his side of course. Keith and I just kept watch and talked a little, he was always someone you could be real with, never had to cover up because you knew he wouldn't judge you, or at least show it. About two hours or so we began to pack up and leave, found some tools in the storage area. I was driving and we followed our normal routine, stopping a block away to check things out at the house, make sure there is no intruders or what not. But this time was different, there was someone there, and it was those guys from across the street. We all hurdled behind some bushes and hedges that were on the other side of the street on the left side of the house. They were some guys walking around outside of the house, and I assumed some inside because they would talk to someone inside but I never saw who it was. About ten minutes later they left, Mollie just looked at me her eyes starting to water, "You guys stay here, I'll check if it's clear, okay?" I turned around gun ready and began to head toward the house. The closer I got the more I wanted to turn back. I assumed everyone was dead before I even got to the door fore there was holes in the brick from guns, a lot of them. I entered and saw no one in the house, besides Gunner, my uncles baby in mush from being bashed to death. I walked through the whole house clearing every room, everything was gone, everything, even the mattresses. I went out back to see Mollie's parents who were eaten alive, they were still breathing, so i did what I had to do, I shot them, my dad was alive also, guts hanging out. I went over and hugged him, kissed him goodbye, and said I love you, then I put him to rest.
I had to do that for everyone else because of the lack of headshot, but I made sure to get what I could to hold on to them, everything was stolen so there was not much but there was my dads necklace a simple small golden cross he never took off, I put it on and scanned the house again. There was a canned good and a bowl left, I began to undo the floors in the livingroom because we had hid stuff there also. I pulled out a crossbow which I learned to use a year ago, I pulled out two family photos, Mollies family in one and the other mine and most importantly a map, this map showed me how to get to Atlanta, there was supposedly a camp there. I walked out with what I had to the group, they already knew though, so there was no shock, no words, not even a sigh just silence. Mollie broke the silence by asking a question I was hoping not to get. "Was it quick? When they died was it a one time thing.. Not painful?" I looked her straight in the eyes and knew if I told her it would break her, so I told her this, "They all died with a gunshot wound to the head, simple, easy, and quick." I forced a small smile hoping it would help. "Good." She replied "Good."
We started to walk the mile to the loading trucks which we hoped no one looted from. We all just gave up when we got there, everything was in place which was good, but we just needed a break.. A break from reality. Darry set up a small fire to cook the canned good we had, then we got into the moving truck and slept in there, I kept watch that night and the next three nights after that. I didn't eat, sleep, drink, speak or anything, I just sat there watching.. waiting for something to happen something I didn't even know I wanted to happen, I just felt it was my job. We spent the next day driving, following the map we had before us. When we finally we got there, we were all eager for this new opportunity to try and make things right, to try and make something new.
