Chapter One

I quietly put my shoes on trying not to wake the slumbering sex god that was in the bed next to me. Unfortunately I can't remember his name. I think it's Mark, but it could be Matthew... It starts with an M for sure. I wiggled my feet into my black combat boots and grabbed my black jacket off the chair and made my way to the door.

Mr. M moved, even in sleep he looks restless, he mumbled something about my butt and then rolled over. I let out a silent breath that I didn't realize I had been holding. Making my way down the hall I came to a stop when I saw a cat sitting on top of a book shelf. I pat its grey striped head and made my way to the front door quietly slipping out like a ninja.

The song "I just had sex" kept playing in my head. It always does when I have a night cap. I walked out of the apartment building allowing the cold night air to wash over me. My feet led me down the path that would take me home. I cut through the park watching all of the ducks around the pond nestle close together.

My attention moved to in front of me as I passed the large oak tree that I've napped under several times with my dog. I managed to wonder down the street until I found the alley which is a shortcut to my neighborhood. My house was the fourth on the left. It was small, but very modern.

I bought it a year ago on my 20th birthday hoping to start a much more comfortable life than before. I walked up the three steps to the small porch and unlocked the front door. I strolled in to the living room and stopped to listen.

"Old man? Where are you?" I heard rustling come from the bedroom. From my bedroom came a rottweiler the size of a small horse. "There you are. You know you aren't supposed to be in my room when I'm gone. Seriously what was the point of me buying a dog bed for you?"

He came up to me and sniffed. If this dog could talk he would be giving me a lecture. Something along the lines of 'Another guy? Really? How am I supposed to sleep at night when I know you're out spending time with other guys when you could be here rubbing my belly?' I got down on my knees and grabbed his head and flopped his ears.

"Don't worry buddy there aren't going to be anymore guys. I've been neglecting a few things so I'm going to have to focus." I stood up and walked to the kitchen with Old Man hot on my tail. I started a pot of coffee and looked at the clock. "What better time to start working than three in the morning?" I looked at Old Man and he just looked at me... waiting patiently.

"Oh alright. You act like I never feed you." I put his food down and gave him a milk bone before pouring myself a cup of coffee. As I stirred my cream and sugar into my cup it came to me "Mason! That was his name. Damn... I might actually miss him..." I shrugged my shoulders and took my cup with me into the study.

I sat down at my desk and fired up my computer. Slowly drinking my cup of joe I pulled my feet up into the chair so my knees were against my chest. I work from home writing codes for companies and creating websites for up and coming businesses. My screen came to life and I immediately got to work.

I started with checking my emails. My current client has been quite particular about his website. Always asking to change this, and change that, and what about changing the color scheme four times?  Speaking of Mr. Uptight, there was an email from him.

Dear Ms. Blake,

I have changed my mind for the color schemes. I would prefer a grey scale with a crisp feel. I want this site to have a professional look to it. It would please me very  much if we could meet and discuss the design in person so I may provide a better description of what I'm wanting. I can come to Washington if that is alright with you. Please respond with a time that suits you. I imagine you are very busy.
