Travelling through time and space had an ability to whisk you off your feet, introducing you to the wonders past the planet Earth. Especially when the whole thing was pioneered by a madman in a blue box, formally known as the Doctor, and make you forget about the reality of the world left behind. After the thrill - or Raelle should say chaos and panic - of New New York, Raelle and Martha were both eager to see what new planet the Doctor would whisk them away too.
"Again?" Raelle stood outside the TARDIS with raised eyebrows in seeing the familiar view of New York (Earth Version to her displeasure) she had seen on the TV many times growing up.
"Where are we now?" Martha called out, hearing her footsteps hurry from inside the TARDIS for her to come to a stop beside Raelle, tilting her head. "New York?"
The Doctor closes the TARDIS doors behind him, a wide stretched smile on his face, as he puts his face up in the wind, eyes closed. "Ah, smell that Atlantic breeze. Nice and cold." He opens his eyes to see Raelle and Martha both giving him a look to which he furrow his brows. "What?!"
"I think you're missing the concept that we were just in New York." Raelle points out, gesturing her hands to the view before her.
The Doctor rolls his eyes. "Oh yeah?" He says sarcastically, moving to stand between them and throwing his arms over both Raelle's and Martha's shoulders. "You lot are only ever happy with a mysterious alien planet."
Martha clears her throat, darting an amused expression to Raelle. "Well, that is kind of your trademark."
"And charm." Raelle adds, suppressing her smile. "Otherwise luring young girls like us into a blue box is kind of creepy."
"OI!" The Doctor exclaims, giving them a bewildered expression. "I'll have you know that it's not luring, more like inviting."
"Well, consent is important." Raelle quips, her smile breaking free.
The Doctor responds by flicking her nose, as he turns Martha and Raelle around to face the other way as he speaks. "You're both so lovely." He remarks sarcastically. "But in our travels, you haven't met my friend yet?" As they turn, Raelle and Martha have only just realised they had been stood with the Statue of Liberty in view, perfect view above them.
"Is that? Oh, my God. That's the Statue of Liberty." Martha exclaims in wonder, gawking up at the view before her.
"Gateway to the New World." The Doctor grins. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free." The Doctor recites.
"That's so brilliant." Martha smiles, looking back at Raelle and the Doctor. "I've always wanted to go to New York. I mean the real New York, not the new, new, new, new, new one."
"I think New New York is off our visit list now." Raelle muses, the irony of the last trip, and even the one with Rose last year, not lost on her.
"Well, there's the genuine article. So good, they named it twice." He says, moving to the railing on the base edge of the Statue of Liberty. The view overlooks the city outline of New York, a hub of bustling activity ahead of them, waiting for them to come and explore.
"What year is it?" Raelle asks, standing next to the Doctor at the railing. "It can't be anything too soon because the Empire State Building isn't even finished."
"Looks like a work in progress." Martha comments, moving to a bench with a newspaper on.
"Still got a couple floors to go." The Doctor states, observing the view. "And if I know my history, that makes the date somewhere around.."
"November 1st 1930."
The Doctor, about to say his answer, stops mid sentence and looks over at Martha with a 'How the Hell do you know that?' expression. Raelle can't help but smile at the smug expression on Martha's face as she holds up the newspaper.
