"You can't be serious." Raelle mutters to the Doctor, leaning against the table as he inspects the many chemistry tests. Her eyes flick between the Doctor crouched beside her and to Dalek Sec talking to the other Daleks.
"I can support a change of heart." He murmurs quietly back, lifting up a test tube of gold liquid, inspecting it.
"How can you be so sure?" She murmurs. "They're Daleks, they don't do change of hearts. Think of all the times in your long, long, life you've ever encountered that"
The Doctor glances up at Raelle beside her, noticing the tense wariness around her. He stands, moving in front of her, as he places a hand on her waist. "Maybe not, but Dalek Sec is the first kind of his line. I can't not give them a chance."
"I know" She sighs, pausing to find the right words. "Just be careful, please."
The Doctor gives her a soft smile. "Always" He murmurs, pressing a kiss to her forehead, before turning back to the test tubes before him, as Dalek Sec walks over.
"There's no point in chromosomal grafting, it's too erratic." The Doctor tells him, rushing over to grab another test tube. "You need to split the genome and force the Dalek human sequence right into the cortex."
"We need more chromatin solution."
"The pig slaves have it." One of the Dalek announces, as a group of pigmen enter the room, carrying a large crate. Raelle spots Laszlo among them, looking away to not raise awareness.
"These pig slaves" She asks Dalek Sec, as the Doctor wonders over to the pigmen. "What happens to them in the grand plan?
"Nothing. They're just simple beasts. Their lifespan is limited. None survive beyond a few weeks."
"But they're human." She argues, crossing her arms.
"Not anymore. Power up the line feeds."
"The line feeds are ready."
"Then it's all systems go." The Doctor presses a liquid into one of the machines, running round like a madman in a laboratory.
"The solar flare is imminent. The radiation will reach Earth in a matter of minutes."
"We'll be ready for it." He continues filling a large syringe with blue liquid and puts it into a brass still. "That compound will allow the gene bonds to reconfigure in a brand new pattern. Power up!"
"Start the line feeds."
Raelle watches as the system powers up, and the blue liquid ascends up into the plastic tubes scattered around the room, to all the bodies above.
"There goes the gene solution."
"The life blood."
A klaxon noise sounds, red light illuminating the room like a siren, as Raelle looks up, frowning. "What's that?"
"What's happening?" Dalek Sec turns to the Daleks. "Is there a malfunction? Answer me!"
"No, no, no. The gene feed! They're overriding the gene feed!" The Doctor hurries over to one of the controls to try and override it.
"Impossible. They cannot disobey orders."
"The Doctor will step away from the controls." One of the Daleks threatens, his gun pointed and ready to fire. The Doctor slowly retreats back to where Raelle and Dalek Sec are, placing himself in front of Raelle, as the Daleks surround them.
"Stop! You will not fire." Dalek Sec commands, but it's clear his authority is over.
"He is an enemy of the Daleks. And so are you." The Daleks train their guns on Raelle too, and worse, Dalek Sec. Raelle can only watch in horror, fear tingling over her.
