'How is my day?' I said a little angry. 'I'm stuck in an elevator. Do you want me to say my day is fine?'
'Woah, relax. I just want th-' he were cut off by the elevator which moved again. The door opened and Allison was standing in front of us.
'Oops, stuck in the elevator,' she said, and she whispered other words: 'with a boy.'
I rolled my eyes and walked away. It already was 5 o'clock and time for me to go home.
I sat on my bed when Thomas called me.
'Hey,' I said.
'Aline, can we just act normal to each other?'
'What?'
'I just want to be friends,' he said.
'Your girlfriend isn't okay with that.'
'I don't care, she can't choose my friends.'
'Hmh,' I mumbled.
'I found a letter. I think it's yours, because it was on the floor in the elevator,' he said.
I immediately stood up and felt in my pockets.
Yesterday afternoon I received a letter in my mailbox and I can not lose that letter.
And now Thomas has it. Well, great.
'Have you read the letter?' I asked.
'No, why. That's very disrespectful.'
'Good, I'm on my way to you. Don't read the letter, please.'
'Ok,' he said.
I ran to the door and took my bicycle. I cycled as fast as I can to the hotel. When I came to Thomas's room, he opened the door.
'Where's Laura?' I whispered.
'She broke up with me,' he said quietly.
'I'm sorry for you...'
'It's ok, we had a fight. She thought we were dating and I told her it wasn't true. And she sai-' I cut Thomas off.
'No time for stories. Where's the letter?'
Thomas handed me the letter and I unfolded it.
'What's written?' he asked curious.
'Nothing.'
'Then who is Helena? And Lina Müller. I knew her.'
'I have to go,' I said, I folded the letter and walked to the door, but Thomas grabbed my wrist.
'No Aline. First you're going to tell me. Who is Helena?'
'I don't know, okay.' I burst into tears. 'Just let me go!'
'Hey, Aline. Tell me what's wrong,' he said while he wiped some hair out of my face and put it behind my ear. With his thumb he wiped away my tears.
'I can't tell you,' I said between my sobs.
'You can. Try it.'
'It's weird.'
'Doesn't matter Aline. Tell me.'
'Okay, you're sure you want to know?'
Thomas nodded.
'My name isn't Aline Smith. My name is Lina Müller and I'm not from England. I'm from Germany, Thomas.'
Now his jaw dropped. 'Lina Müller? But... that can't be true. I thought you were dead.'
'Everyone thought I was dead, except my best friend. She was the only one who knew I moved to England. And to meet you here was not the intention.'
'Then why you said you were dead?' he asked confused.
'I never said I was dead. I was missing, and my parents said I was dead.'
'Why did you moved to England? You knew I live here.'
'Hmh, but that's why I live far away from London, and now you're here in this hotel.'
'I can't believe that you're still in live. I never stopped thinking about you.'
A little smile appeared on my face.
'I have always loved you, Lina,' Thomas said looking to the ground.

'Don't call me Lina. I'm Aline.' I replied.
'Fine, but what's written in the letter?'
'It's my uncle... He died last week and Helena asked me to come to his funeral.'
'So... you are going to Germany again?'
'I think so...'
'But Aline, I'm happy you're not dead and I still love you, why would you go back?' Thomas said.
'It was just a vacation love, Thomas. I can't stay here.'
'Then let me go with you.'
'Thomas, stay here in England.' I said
'Aline, let me go with you. I love you.'
'Stop it,' I sighed.
I love you Aline. I love you more then everything else in this entire damn world. How do you not see that?'
'You can't go with me.'
'Then tell me why not,' he said.
'Because...'
'Because what?'
'Because I don't want to love anyone. If you love someone, you become attached to the person. And I don't want to be attached to someone, because sutures gives scars.'
'We can start over again, Aline. In Germany. I will learn German. For you. As long as I'm with you.'
'We can't.'
'Why not?'
'Because I'm married before I moved to England.' I said quietly.
