I sit on my small, uncomfortable bed with an ugly red cover on top of it, and pull my long, brownish blond hair out of my face.
"I'm not gonna get adopted anytime soon." I mumble to myself sadly as my brown eyes start to tear up.
My mom and dad abandoned me as a baby and has never even made an effort to come and check to see if I was fine.
I've been told that they couldn't afford to have a baby, but everyone around here, in the South Carolina orphanage knew differently.
Every time a new person who was older than me came in, and I'd tell them about myself, they'd tell me the truth about my parents.
"They are druggies. They couldn't give them up so they gave you up." Every single person told me.
My thoughts were interrupted by the thick, brown door opening behind me.
The nice orphanage owner came in and sat beside me on the bed and pulled me into a hug.
"Why have you been crying, sweetheart?" Mrs. Lisa asks, wiping the moist mascara off of my skin.
"No one's gonna adopt me. They want younger kids for playing or older kids to be independent." I state.
"Well, pull yourself together and get dressed." "Why?" "Someone is here and they want someone like you."
Joy overcomes my body and I race to pick out the perfect outfit while smiling like a maniac to myself.
A white, shear top and shorts that come just below my butt are put on my body along with my short black boots.
I walk out the door and into the meeting office, where I'm able to greet the people.
A young, tall man wearing a blue, stripped polo shirt and tan shorts stood behind a young woman with brown hair and blond at the end.
The woman covers her mouth and tears brim in her eyes as she sees me. Even though her hands were over her lips, I could tell she was grinning.
The man shakes my hand and the woman tackles me with a nice, gentle hug.
"Hello, I'm Marzia," She says in an Italian accent. "And my boyfriend is Felix."
"I'm Samantha, but others call me Sam for short." I state as I take a seat in front of the nice couple.
"How old are you?" Felix asks. "Just turned sixteen." I answer. "What about the both of you guys?"
"Marzia is twenty and I'm twenty three." He answers, smiling.
"Do you like to travel?" Marzia asks me.
"Well, I've been cooped up here my whole life, but I wanna travel to a lot of places and visit new things."
"How did you get in here?" They both ask.
"Well, my parents abandoned me on the front straits outside and they left me here." I answer, looking down.
"Well, Sam, how would you like to come with us?" Felix asks, and I shoot my head up and smile.
"Yeah, that would be awesome, but if you really don't wanna you don't have to." I say.
"Are you kidding? You're awesome and the pugs will love you!" Marzia smiles at me.
"Pugs?" I ask. "We have two; Edgar and Maya." She answers.
"Great, I've always wanted a pet!" I say happily, excitement racing through my veins.
While Felix and Marzia sign the paperwork, I pack my stuff into my blue suitcase.
