The Summoning Sky

2 1 0

The sky above the world had changed.

Where once it stood as Heaven's mirror, it now churned with unknown hues—ashen purple, rusted crimson, and gold tainted with shadow. The war between angels and devils had ended. Not with a chorus of victory, but with a scream swallowed in silence.

Michael was gone.

The Citadel stood fractured, its towering spires crumbling under the weight of divine betrayal. The Flame of Judgment extinguished. The Chains of Radiance broken. Its worshipers scattered. Its angels... dead or fled.

In the fields where Asmodeus fell to one knee, the blood of Heaven and Hell mingled with the soil. The ground still smoked, but he did not. He had not moved since the death rattle of Michael.

He was not praying.

He was remembering.

Lilith.

Lucifer.

The world they had tried to build.

And the girl he had left behind.

Far from the Citadel, nestled between the remains of shattered colonies, a forest glowed faintly in twilight. The trees no longer dared to rise too tall. They bent slightly inward, as if shielding something sacred.

Sera sat cross-legged among the ash.

She wore no crown. No marks of power.

And yet the air around her trembled.

The grass didn't grow there. It obeyed.

She stared at her hands.

They had not aged.

But inside her, something ancient stirred.

Not power in the sense men understood.

Memory.

Fragments of songs she had never sung.

Visions of towers burning in golden light.

The River Eden.

And a voice.

His voice.

Asmodeus.

She remembered his scream.

And she remembered the silence that followed.

She stood.

The rabbit fell from her arms.

Her feet hovered slightly above the earth, not by command, but by nature.

The stars swirled above her, one blinking at a time. Not twinkling—watching.

Waiting.

A wind moved behind her, but she didn't turn.

It whispered not in a language, but in intention.

She nodded.

One step forward.

The ground lit beneath her.

A path carved in forgotten scripture. Each word a name. Each name a god now dead.

She walked it.

Toward the horizon.

Toward the ashes.

Toward the throne no one dared claim.

Not far from the wreckage of the Citadel, within the broken walls of a ruined chapel, a figure stirred among the fallen.

Lucius.

His body was scorched, his arm broken, and his ribs wrapped tight in salvaged bandages, but he lived.

He always lived.

The last survivor of Michael's command. The final Devotee to carry the dying flame of the fallen heaven.

He stood now, leaning on a jagged spear.

He had not joined the priests who fled. Nor had he raised a blade against Asmodeus in that final field. He had watched.

Watched the devil become something divine in his defiance.

Watched Heaven lose more than a war.

Watched the future shift.

Lucius walked through the ruin, eyes fixed on the sky that no longer wept for angels.

He did not know what he would become.

Only that he had a choice to make.

And that somewhere beyond the smoke...

A girl had begun to walk.

He would find her.

He would see what she became.

Back in the field, Asmodeus opened his eyes.

He felt it.

Not a tremor.

Not a warning.

A calling.

He turned his head slightly, and for the first time since Michael fell, a breath escaped his lips.

"She awakens."

He did not rise.

He did not need to.

Because she would come.

Not as a child.

Not as a weapon.

But as something neither angel nor demon had foreseen.

The future.
