Epilogue:
(Set three years after Part 5 of "Only Us")

César had been nervous before—but nothing compared to this.

Not his first time with you. Not leaving the Santos. Not even holding both twins in his arms for the first time, wondering how the hell he was going to keep them all safe.

This?

This was different.

He was about to ask you to marry him.

The ring was burning a hole in his pocket. Jamal had it for a while, but he was paranoid he'd "accidentally drop it in a sewer or something." Ruby was in charge of the timing. Monse? She made sure you stayed distracted long enough to get to the park without catching on.

And the twins?
They had very specific instructions.

Mateo and Isla were both three now—too smart for their own good and way too honest to be trusted. So César bribed them with ice cream and gave them strict orders.

"When Mommy gets to the tree, you give her the box, okay?"
"What if we eat the ring?" Mateo asked.
"You're not eating the ring, bro—what? No."
"Okay! But what if we say it's for a scavenger hunt?" Isla suggested, eyes wide with mischief.
César blinked. "Why are you a genius?"

You were led to the park under the excuse that Monse wanted new pictures of the twins "for her feed," and honestly, it wasn't that weird—she was always snapping shots of your babies anyway.

But when you got to the old oak near the water, Mateo and Isla were already there—dressed in matching little outfits, wide grins on their faces.

"Hi Mommy!" Isla said, bouncing in place.
"Daddy said you have to find the treasure," Mateo added, holding out a folded piece of paper.

You took it, laughing as you opened it:

"Look up."

So you did.

And there he was.

César stepped out from behind the tree in a white button-down, a nervous grin on his face and a velvet box in his hand.

Your heart stopped.

"I've been yours since we were kids," he said, voice just loud enough for you to hear. "Through everything—your love made me better. Gave me something to fight for. Gave me home."

He dropped to one knee.

The twins gasped dramatically—even though they knew.

"I never thought I'd have this. A family. Peace. You. But now I can't imagine life without you in every part of it. So..." He opened the box, revealing a sparkling ring that caught the sunlight perfectly. "Will you marry me?"

Tears blurred your vision as you laughed through them. "Yes. Yes!"

Mateo shouted, "She said yes!"
Isla screamed and tackled your leg.
Ruby was crying. Jamal was filming. Monse was yelling at Jamal for zooming in too hard.

César stood, slipped the ring onto your finger, and kissed you like he never wanted to let go again.

Which he didn't. Not ever.
