Before I can even blink, the boy grabs me by my collar and lifts me all the way from the ground to about three feet. He looks furious, dangerous in the moonlight.
"I can tell it's you, your eyes give it away. What, you couldn't stay away, huh? You just had to see me! Well, you aren't trapping me in that ice block any time soon!" He yells. He holds his hand up as if he wanted to hold something, but nothing happens. "What the he-"
"It won't work." Blake cuts in. "It won't work for a few days. It happened to us."
"Put her down!" Logan commands, almost screaming at him.
The boy doesn't look like he is going to put me down anytime soon. In fact, he balls his hand into a fist. "I guess this will have to do." Before he can go through with it, a pretty good-sized rock hits the side of his head. He looks at the source and sees Amy smirking back.
"You heard Blondie, put her down." Amy says, taunting him.
He drops me down, and walks up to her. "Hey, it's you. Wow, this is a heck of a reunion. Which, by the way, who was lovely enough to break me out of that horrid cage?"
Accusatory looks are shot at me, all of their anger obvious. I start to get up and try to walk away, but he comes up to me. "Please, I don't mean any trouble. I was, uh, swimming, and I just came across you." His black eyes are still drilling into mine. "I swear, I don't even know you. Please, just let me go, and all this can pass. You know, we could be friends." He smirks. "Long distance, of course!"
"You don't remember anything, do you? Well, I must say, it will be much easier to end you." He states. He pulls out a knife and holds it up with both hands. "Goodbye!" Before he can come down, he falls over, revealing Blake with a large rock.
"Let's get out of here." Blake says, and with that, we all run. I grab me stuff and once we get to the cabin, everyone grabs what they need.
"Where are we going?" I ask Logan.
"I have another house in New York." He responds.
"What? How are we going to get there? That is almost across the whole country!" I exclaim, we cannot walk all the way to New York.
"I know, we're going on my private jet." Logan replies as if it is nothing.
"Private jet? Private jet! How can you own a private jet? That is a lot of money!" I exclaim. "You didn't rob a bank, did you?"
Logan chuckles. "No, I did not rob a bank. It just so happens that I have a pretty big fortune. It's nothing, really."
"Nothing really! Oh my goodness, it isn't like my family was poor, but we couldn't afford a private jet!" I say.
"The scientists just gave me a lot of money, that's all." He replies. Before I can ask what scientists he was talking about, Amy and Blake walk in. With them around, I was never going to find anything out from Logan.
"Let's go." Amy states.
We go to a clearing and Logan's private jet arrives. The pilot is waiting outside of it as we arrive. We climb aboard, and are greeted with a top-notch interior. There are a few black tables with white chairs around, then there is a white couch surrounding a large, flat-screen television. There is a food bar and a restroom on either side.
"Are you sure it is safe for all this stuff to be on here?" I ask.
"Trust me, Ms. Tiltner, all this is perfectly safe." The pilot, Mr. Brate assures me.
We all sit on the couch and turn on the TV. Logan turns on the news. A reporter comes on the screen, talking about some political fight, when the craziest thing happens. The scene changes to my house and shows Ethan, my mom, and my dad sitting on the couch as a reporter sits on a chair next to them. My mom looks like she's been crying, Ethan looks like he might cry, and my dad looks more sad than the time when Coco, his favorite dog, died two years ago.
The reporter raises her microphone up to her. "An average household, broken by their missing daughter." She looks at Ethan. "So, you are the last one to see your sister, is that true?" He nods. "Can you tell me what she was doing?" She puts the microphone towards Ethan.
"I should have known. She was walking out the door with her messenger bag, and she looked like she was going to cry. She said goodbye, walked out the door, and that was it. She was gone. She ran away." He finishes, the reporter feigning empathy. She puts the microphone towards my mom.
"Kaylee, wherever you are, please come back home. We love you so much, dear." She finishes and starts to cry again and buries her head into my dad's chest.
"Well, you heard it. This confused, teenage girl ran away from home. Please call this number if you see this girl." The screen displays a recent picture of me and a phone number below. "Thank you, and tune back in. Your news reported by Jessica Mark, back to you, Sean."
Logan turns off the TV. They all turn to look at me, but I am just staring at the blank screen with my mouth wide open. This was not good.
