Your friends will act as your first followers.
To get more, I usually follow recommended people. They will receive a notification that you followed them and some of them might follow you back.
If someone follows you, a notification will appear to their profile and guess what that would mean? That's marketing. If I will follow you, my friends could see that in my profile and they might follow you as well. If I give you a vote, my friends could see that or if I like your stories that much, I can recommend them to my friends.
Famous restaurants have this strategy. A long time ago taking pictures is not allowed, now everyone takes a picture first before eating.
For example: You eat there and you took pictures and posted it in Facebook. That's marketing already. When your friends saw your pictures and the food looked delicious. I'm sure your friends will eat there as well or If you liked the food so much, I'm sure you are going to recommend the restaurant to your friends.
That is marketing. Never forget what it can do for you. Not only can it apply in business world but it can be applied to our daily life.
