Riley POV:
The actual thought of dating James, never really passed through my head. I just assumed he would like the prissy girls with long shiny hair who can do free cartwheels and whoo and clap at his flips. One part of me thinks he needs someone to help him recover from Stephanie. The other (very very small) segment of me wonders why he has been really trying to make me forgive him... for a year. But still, I'm not gonna let this stupid boy distract me from rehearsal.
Today is the auditions for A-Troup, and I can only hope either James or Stephanie makes it in, and not both. I don't think I could cope with all this drama. The choreo for me is quite simple. I'm a hip hop and contemporary dancer, and this sequence is both of those styles, so without being overly confident, I am quite hoping to make it through.
1 + 2, 3 + 4, 5, 6 miss 7, 8. I keep chanting the beats in my head as I mark the routine. We have five minutes left to rehearse.
"Dancers, can I have your attention please!" Miss Kate claps and draws us all in, "I have just had a call from a huge studio, that may or may not be called Carmichael's!"
Carmichael's?! This is unreal! It's one of the most successful studios in the country, and if you win a competition there, you're pretty much guaranteed a career in dance. I wonder what Miss Kate wants to tell us?
"They are holding a solo's competition, and they have asked us to compete-" There is a rush of chatter and excitement from everyone, "Okay, quiet please, there's more! I will be selecting the best audition from today to compete. So make sure you do the best you can! You have three more minutes, keep rehearsing!" And she just walks casually back into her office, as if she hasn't just offered one of us a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I see James walking towards me, and I immediately face the other direction. This is a time, where I just can't let anyone distract me.James POV:
I've finally come up with a plan to win Riley over. I need her to get into A Troup, but she's going to get in because of me. Then when she's so happy with me, and we spend so much time together, boom, Riley instantly falls for me, and I get to call her my girlfriend. I walk up to her.
"Hey Riles, looking good."
"Thanks, but I do need to practice it, so go away." She doesn't even bother looking at me, she just minds her own business.
"I meant you, not the dance - but you know that step, it's wrong. When you come out of the foutte, its flap ball change, not twist ball change, and the arms come to second not first. But anyway, good luck!" And I walk away, leaving her confused and panicked.
You see, when Riley messes up on her audition, I go up to her and tell her 'I'm gonna mess mine up even worse, so she definitely gets a spot.' Unless everyone else is amazing, then I wont be on the team either. But I will however, be in B - Troup, with Riley.
"Okay dancers, time for the auditions! Riley, you're up first!"Sorry for a really short chapter guys, but I hope you enjoyed it!
