Riley POV:
I hear James running down the stairs. I hear the anger and frustration from his head. I hear him wiping his forehead in sadness. He's been trying to get with me for a year now, and all I've ever done is, well, rejected him."James. Wait." I shout, standing up and walking to the top of the stairs.
He looks up at me from the bottom of the stairs, eyebrows raised and arms drooped by his side.
I sigh, looking down at the floor and biting my lip, twiddling my fingers together, trying to come up with a sentence in my head.
I open my mouth, not really knowing what my brain has in store for me to say.
"I don't even know what I want to say to you. I just want you to stay. And I don't know why." I spill. I have no idea where the words came from, but I do see a smile grow slowly on James' face, and his eyes trail from the floor to me.
"Okay, erm, yeah, I can stay." He takes off his jacket and hangs it up on the pegs on the wall, being careful not to knock anything off the pegs. Failing, of course.
First a coat, then my hat, then Em's jacket all come tumbling on the floor around him, and I watch him stumble around, picking everything up and catching everything as they fall off the pegs, and it's honestly hard to contain my laughter! I lean on the banister, and chuckle, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Do you want a little help?" I ask.
"No, it's okay, don't even worry about it-"
"I'm coming down, don't worry!" I begin walking down the stairs.
James POV:
Riley and I spend a few minutes arranging everything back up onto her pegs, making sure Emily's things don't touch her dads, coats are on the bottom, hats are on the top etc. I'm not surprised everything's so organised knowing Riley.Riley puts the last hat on top, and sighs dramatically, laughing and high-fiving me.
I'm still holding onto my jacket, so she takes it off me and hangs it on the basket.
"Maybe it might be a little safer there!" Riley laughs, and I join in, until the moment is broken by Riley's text tone.
She pulls the phone out of her pocket, and sighs, looking at me.
"It's Michelle, she says they want us back at the studio." She says sadly.
Haha, ding ding, point James! Riley officially wants to spend more time with me! But how can I keep us together? We cant go back to the studio now. I don't want to, neither does she.
"Erm, just text her saying : Family Emergency, and James is involved." I say sarcastically, causing Riley to giggle a bit, and lean on me with laughter.
I turn my head an find her leaning on my arm and shoulder and texting Michelle exactly what I just suggested!
Riley POV:
"See I'm smarter than you thought." James jokes, putting his arm around me.I gently remove his arm, in sort of a parenting way and tell him;
"But I never said you weren't smart," raising an eyebrow at him and sitting up, "hey, do you want to go in the living room and watch a movie maybe? I have loads...?"
"Yeah, sure!" James agrees, but I can see in his eyes, he is more than pleased. James is a sweet guy. I lov- like him for that.
I grab his hand and direct him to my sitting room, where the TV is in the middle, and the DVD's all underneath. I point towards the sofa, and James takes the hint and takes a seat smiling at me every second.
"So," I say bending down and opening the box of DVD's, "we have horror, comedy, chick flick, pretty much anything!" I tell him.
I can see him thinking, but then he glances at me, and holds the glance, "we'll have comedy, because I know you hate horror."
"Hmm, impressive," I say, inserting the disk of one of the best comedies I know 'Friends and other animals', "this one is a good one I promise."
"What ever you say." James says, as I sit next to him, bending my knees onto the sofa, and leaning on him.
James POV:
Riley leans on me, again. So I take the chance I have and grab her hand, pulling her closer to me, and she does nothing, but I do feel a grin on her face."James?"
"Yeah?" Here we go with this again, I'm not getting my hopes up about this.
"I'm glad I have you. You do mean a lot to me. I just wanted you to know that."
"And Riley?"
"Yeah?" She sits up and looks at me, straight into my eyes.
"I love you." I say, even though I've told her enough times.
She hesitates for a moment, and I don't know what she will say. She slumps back down onto me, and sighs.
"I know, James," She says, squeezing my hand and moving closer to me, "I know."
