Hope you're all doing well, Cheriés!
Dawn's Embrace
The pre-dawn sky bled hues of apricot and rose as Silver Moon stirred to life. The air, still cool with the lingering night, vibrated with a quiet energy – a blend of anticipation and the bittersweet weight of farewells.
Tears, freshly fallen, glistened on sun-kissed cheeks, silent testaments to the heartfelt goodbyes exchanged just moments before.
The scent of pine and damp earth mingled with the earthy aroma of woodsmoke, a familiar fragrance that spoke of home and belonging.
Taehyung, his silver hair catching the first rays of sunlight, noticed a small child struggling with a basket far too large for his slight frame.
The basket, overflowing with what appeared to be the child's worldly possessions, threatened to topple with every unsteady step. With a silent gesture, Taehyung summoned a nearby warrior, his gaze conveying the unspoken request for assistance.
Then, he approached the child, his movements fluid and graceful.
He knelt, his snow-white skin contrasting sharply against the dark earth, and met the child's gaze. His voice, low and soothing, cut through the morning quiet.
"Hey there, little one," he said, his smile gentle and reassuring.
The child's eyes widened in recognition. "Luna! Good morning!" he chirped, though the forced cheeriness couldn't quite mask the underlying strain in his voice.
Taehyung noticed the trembling in the child's small hands clutching the basket's worn handles.
Taehyung's smile softened. He reached out, his touch feather-light as he ruffled the child's dark, curly hair.
"Seems like you've got a bit of a problem there," he observed, his voice laced with a gentle amusement. With effortless ease, he lifted the heavy basket, the weight seemingly insignificant in his strong hands.
The child's lower lip trembled. "I'm sorry, Luna…" he mumbled, his voice barely a whisper.
Taehyung chuckled softly, the sound melodic and calming. "It's quite alright, little one. In fact," he paused, a playful glint in his eyes, "I think I should be the one apologizing."
The child tilted his head, his dark eyes wide with curiosity. "Why would you apologize, Luna?" he asked, his voice filled with a surprising intelligence that belied his age.
"Alpha waited for you for so long, and he always tells us that once his mate arrives, he'll protect us all." A genuine smile, bright and unburdened, finally blossomed on his face.
"Just come back, Luna. We'll be waiting."
Taehyung's heart warmed at the child's unwavering faith. He ruffled the child's hair once more, a silent expression of his affection. At that moment, a woman, her face etched with worry, came rushing towards them.
She gasped as she recognized Taehyung, her eyes widening in a mixture of awe and relief. She bowed deeply, her voice trembling slightly.
"I am so very sorry for the inconvenience, Luna. I've been searching for my son everywhere…"
Taehyung raised a hand, halting her apologies. "It's quite alright," he reassured her, his voice calm and comforting.
He handed the basket back to the woman, his smile gentle and reassuring. "You should get going now. I hope to see you both again when we return."
