The sun was dipping behind the horizon as Jongsuk and Seojun returned to Korea, both tense and sharp, aware that something was off. Calls had gone unanswered, messages ignored - the silence gnawed at them, unfamiliar and infuriating.
"They're hiding," Jongsuk spat, his voice low and dangerous, pacing in the car. "Yn and Harin are hiding, and Taehyung... he's cutting us off completely."
Seojun's jaw tightened. "Impossible... they wouldn't dare defy us like this. Not for long."
But deep inside, both men felt the first sting of helplessness. And helplessness, for them, was unbearable.
As they approached their house, something felt... wrong. The faint glint of car headlights parked too deliberately in front of the driveway. The air smelled heavier than usual, charged with danger. Yn slowed, her heart hammering.
"Harin... something's not right," she whispered, her eyes scanning the shadows.
Harin's hand tightened over Yn's. Her gaze flicked toward the car, then the dark figures around it, their movements too controlled, too precise. Fear flashed in her eyes.
"I don't know... but we can't stay. We have to save ourselves first."
Yn swallowed hard, torn. "But... our parents-"
Harin shook her head, her voice urgent and shaking. "Yn, we'll save them if we can, but not like this. Not tonight. Right now, we survive."
Instinct took over. Without another word, they sprinted, their feet pounding the pavement as the men guarding the driveway noticed them. Shouts and footsteps erupted behind them, a thunderous warning.
Yn's chest burned with panic, but she forced herself forward, glancing back only once to see the figures moving, relentless.
They dove into the edge of the forest, branches whipping against their faces and tearing at their clothes. Fear and adrenaline propelled them deeper, the moonlight casting ghostly shadows across the undergrowth.
Every snap of a twig behind them made Yn flinch. Harin's grip on her arm was tight, almost desperate, her breaths ragged but determined.
"Keep running," Harin urged, her voice low but firm. "We can't stop. Not now. Not ever."
Yn's mind raced, torn between fear for their parents and the pressing need to survive. Every instinct screamed at her that this was the only choice, the only chance they had.
And so they ran, the forest swallowing them, the danger behind them, but the uncertainty ahead pressing heavier than the night itself.
The forest was alive with shadows, every tree a looming threat. Yn's legs burned, every step a battle against fatigue and the weight of her fear. Her baby bump made running nearly impossible, but she forced herself forward, dragging Harin along. Her hands were slick with sweat, her breath ragged.
"We... we can't stop, Yn," Harin panted, clutching her stomach.
"I know, Harin! Just... keep moving!" Yn gasped, panic tightening her chest. Her knife was hidden in her coat, a small promise of defense, but it felt heavy in her shaking hands.
Then the footsteps came. Heavy, deliberate, impossible to ignore. Yn's heart slammed against her ribs. Shadows loomed behind them.
"Stop!" Jongsuk's roar cut through the night. "You little brat! You think you can run from me?!"
Yn spun, her eyes wild, seeing his figure press through the trees. Rage and terror collided inside her. She raised the knife instinctively.
"Stay back!" she yelled, voice cracking.
But Seojun's shadow moved closer to Harin, slow and deliberate. His hand rested on her stomach, tracing lightly over the curve of her baby bump. The touch was gentle, almost intimate, but there was a menace behind it that made Harin freeze.
