From Marceline's cave, the Adventure Squad now ventures acroos the Grass Lands. Finn and Fionna rode alongside each other on the backs of Jake and Cake respectively. Finn laid on his back, smiling at the clouds that passed by above him while Fionna pensievely sat down, hugging her knees in a nest-like cavity that Cake stretched out for her.
"Hey Finn," said Fionna, "I know you're pretty cool and all, and it's nice to hang out with someone who totally understands you, but I don't think we should stay here any longer." Finn's smile fell and asked
"Oh, why not?" asked Finn as he rose to sit down, his legs criss-crossed.
"Because the longer we stay here, the more we'd want to stay and hang out with you guys, and we all know we can't stay here because it's not our world, and our world would be needing us." Finn's mouth puckered briefly as he thought about what Fionna said,
"You're right," he agreed. "We should go back to Marcy and Marshall then and tell them they can't have another day together then."
"Yeah, the sooner we keep them apart, the better," Cake remarked. "I don't want to hear any more of their weird business."
"What is that weird business anyway?" Finn asked.
"Don't ask!" answered Jake.
"But-"
"No buts, no coconuts!"
"You guys seem to have more weird business than them maybe we should keep you two apart." Fionna remarked.
"How exactly are we going to send these guys back to their world anyway?" asked Jake.
"We root out the root of all evil of course," Finn answered. "The Ice King."
"And the Ice Queen too, possibly." Fionna added.
"We better head on to the Ice Kingdom instead as quick as we can then." said Finn.
"Jake, Cake, show us the meaning of haste!" Fionna roared.
When the double duo arrived at the Ice Kingdom everything seemed perfectly fine, a bunch of Gunters were by the castle entrance goofing around, the Ice King wasn't making any kind of ruckus inside, nor were there any fumes of evil coming out of the castle. Finn and Fionna, still aboard Jake and Cake, looked at each other and came to a mutual understanding, something weird this way comes. Even as they got near the entrance, no booby traps were set up nor was any of the Gunters around alarming the Ice King of the Adventure Squad's presence. As soon as they entered the castle, the entrance closed shut and the lights turned down, making everything pitch black.
"Psst Gunter, cue the music, just like we rehearsed," the voice of the Ice King whispered.
"Wenk," the voice of Gunter replied.
A menacing music surrounded the room along with flashes of white light. The Ice King's laughter filled the room as well as another person's,
"Oh no," Fionna was alarmed, "The Ice Queen really is here!"
"That's right you little brat, prepare for trouble!" said the Ice Queen. A spotlight lit up the dark room and the silhouette of the Ice Queen on an ice pedestal emerged from the floor.
"Make it double, " the Ice King chimed in as another ice pedestal rose from the floor.
"To capture princes is my goal," the Ice Queen turned around to face the Adventure Squad, now making her visible.
"To capture princesses, I'll catch them all," the Ice King urned around as well, now visible.
"Yes all of them to ensure I'll choose someone I really love,"
"Together we'll rule the Land of Ooo from above,"
"Ice Queen,"
"Ice King,"
"The Icy Duo, together we'll succeed with all our might," the Ice Queen clenched her fist and raised her arm forward.
"Surrender now or prepare to fight." the Ice King pointed his cold, bony finger at the Adventure Squad, and Gunter joined in and waddled in between the erected pedestals to say,
"Wenk."
Light slowly filled the room, showing the intent look that the Ice King and Queen are giving the Adventure Squad, more evident. They gave the Ice King and Queen an equally intent gaze, then Finn and Fionna looked at each other,
"P- prepare for trouble?" uttered Fionna.
"Make it double?" said Finn.
Finn bit his shaking lower lip, Fionna covered her mouth with hands that were shaking as well. Jake and Cake looked at each other and then to Finn and Fionna. Then altogether, the Adventure Squad released their stifled laughter.
"The Icy Duo?" Jake pointed out in between laughs. Cake wiped the tears rolling from her eyes and commented,
"I got to hand it to you two, I don't think I could think of a name lamer than that!"
The Ice Queen's arms stiffened and she clenched both fists in irritation as per the Adventure Squad's reactions.
"Shut up!" the Ice Queen screeched, the Adventure Squad, Gunter, and even the Ice King fell on the floor because of the quake caused by her banshee-like screech. The icicles from the ceiling loosened up as well, and the Ice Queen redirected their drop towards the Adventure Squad. The smaller icicles pierced through Finn and Fionna's clothes which pinned them to the wall and the bigger icicles incarcerated Jake and Cake. The Ice Queen made more icicles fall from the ceiling to throw towards Finn and Fionna. The two managed to break free from being pinned which ripped holes through their clothes.
"Wow," the Ice King remarked in awe who was still lying on the floor. Finn and Fionna were sprawled on the floor as well to take cover from the Ice Queen's attacks.
"How do you deal with this kind of junk?" Finn asked.
"Girl power?" she answered, forcing a smile.
"She's nuttier than the Ice King, and I'm pretty sure he has enough nuts in him to feed all the squirrels in Ooo."
"Gunter! Bring out the catapult!" the Ice Queen ordered. A bunch of Gunters wheeled out a metallic catapult to the outside of the castle. The Ice Queen then freezed Jake and Cake's cell solid unabling them to move, and loaded them onto the catapult.
"Where are you taking them Ice Queen?" Finn demanded.
"Somewhere far away!" she replied.
Out of heroic instinct, Finn leaped towards the Ice queen to stop her, and Fionna catching on, ran to assist. The two were foiled when the Ice King freezed them into a blok of ice, leaving their heads unfrozen. The Ice Queen smiled and released the catapult, launching Jake amd Cake into the horizon.
"Don't worry you two will be following them shortly." The Ice King bice beamed the frozen heroes and loaded them onto the catapult.
"We'll see you again later!" said the Ice Queen. "That's if you don't die where you're going." The Ice Queen gave a maniacal laugh before launching Finn and Fionana to the horizon.
"Now, Ice King, where were we?" she turned to him.
"Planning to capture princes and princesses?" he replied.
"Oh, that's right!" The Ice Queen left the room for the basement and the Ice King's gaze followed her, looking worried.
