Chapter 20

Ryan's POV

"You look like a zombie" Aron commented while I was stuck with my laptop preparing for the presentation to be held tomorrow. The client who is going to be at my office is significant to me and the firm.

"Do not Disturb while I am working." my eyes still fixed on laptop.

"Well you are not working, you are just editing already prepared file."

"What do you want?" I looked up at him.

"Well, Why do you look like a zombie?"

I saved my work before turning towards him. He was leaning on the wall with mobile in his hand holding it as if he got some real important news.

"I have not been sleeping from a week." I sighed.

"That, I can see. May I know why?"

"From when did you start taking care of me?"

"You are my cousin buddy" He smirked.

This sentence just pinched my heart hard.

"We.are.no-"

"Uh-uh-uh. No secrets to be revealed. Both the girls think we are cousins." He said with an evil smile.

He is getting on my nerves now. I banged the cup on the table to the floor in utter frustration.

"Will you fucking stop it already?"

"Oops! All right! Didn't know being my cousin  can irritate you so bad." He raised his hands in defeat.

"What makes you sleepless for the whole week?" He continued in serious tone.

"I was occupied with work for three whole days flying to Japan."

"The other three days?" He asked with intentions of taking out some information from which he already had.

I stared out of the window in irritation.

"She turned you down, Didn't she?"

"Wha-Who?"

"Veronica. She turned you down thrice."

"Yes she did! I was ready with everything set up for her and she turned me down for fucking three times. I have not been sleeping whole night in excitement of spending a day with her. I arranged everything up there for her and only after she showed interest."

Veronica did not go out with me the next day and she made all excuses in the world to come out with me. That night when she asked whether the offer is still open, I thought that she is interested to  go out.

"She is not right for you man." He stated.

"I know who is right and who is not." I warned stepping closer to him.

My phone buzzed on the table and I soon picked it up without seeing the name on the screen.

"Hello?" The voice spoke.

Veronica.

"Hey, What's up?" I asked in a soft tone.

"Umm-I am really sorry that I have been turning you down from past three days."

"It is all right! Don't be sorry!"

"I-Is it possible tomorrow? I mean to go out?" She hesitantly asked.

"uh- I, I have an important meeting tomorrow." 

"Oh." 

The line was silent, and she spoke up again breaking the silence "It won't take whole day, I just need you to come with me early in the morning before sun rise and you ca return home in ninety minutes."
