That Could Have Gone Better

I woke up to faces I prayed would never greet me again. Charlie was craned over my face practically breathing the air out of my lungs while he shook me so violently I thought my arms would rip off.
I sighed accepting my fate, smacking him away I sat up to a crowd of concerned faces. The boys soccer team. EVEY. SINGLE. ONE. Of them were proud members of the fan club I had tried so fervently to squash. I know you don't believe me, but trust me you have never seen me when I with the power of the chosen one commit to something. Yet with every Valentine's Day card pile I set ablaze, they just keep coming. They remind me of those zombie moves when you think you're safe and then you turn around and get bit.
"Guys I'm fine, really." I assure them as my eyes attempt to roll out of my socket. The crowd begins to break when a gasp rolls through. I look down. Just my luck, I scraped my knee. Mass panic ensues as I army crawl through the terror and into the school. 20 minutes until class starts. I CAN AND WILL MAKE IT. No I won't. Charlie has caught wind and is in hot pursuit, I've got 10 yards on him but he is closing the distance fast. All of a sudden Alex walks out of the classroom. Perfect timing. I reach into my bag and pull out the coveted card.
Like a blood hound I see his head whip to catch a glance at the reflective shine of the foil. Alex darts over towards me and grabs my hand. Dragging me through the hallways and right before we cross the threshold to the classroom he pivots. ARE U KIDDING ME. Where do we end up? Anyone's guess really, just kidding it's the janitors closet. Again.
I feel like at this point it is the only part of the school I could draw from sheer memory alone. I spend way too much time in here. Anyway he shuts the door and pulls the light string illuminating the cramped room once more. "Where. Did. You. Get. That." He asks with measured breaths. "Um, I found it, but more importantly I have a proposition for you." I respond, though his ominous eyes are scaring me a bit. "You pretend to be my boyfriend to ward off anyone who comes after me, and I will give you this card. Quick and easy." I don't think the words coming out of my mouth even registered in his head. "There is only one copy of that card in the world. The world. Give me it." He reaches for the card, so logically I slapped his hand "GET A GRIP!"
He snapped out of his daze and looked at me. "Yeah sure whatever you want." Perfect. The plan had succeeded with only a few flaws. All that was left was to get out of this closet without being seen with Alex. Not because I was giving up on my plan, but just because that would be really freaking awkward and I would never live it down.
