Nico POV

It's early in the morning and I creak cautiously and slowly out of the four-poster bed.

Then I creep out of the dormitory and down the stairs into the red and gold common room.

Expectedly, it's silent apart from the occasional sniff or rustle of the students who fell asleep doing homework or studying.

So I sit on one of the comfortable chairs close to a window.

Then stare out at the still dark view, the room was only lit by a few candle-like lights.

With nothing else to do, I think about the letters that Hecate and my father sent us.

My father

Gods it still felt weird to call him that.

I let a corner of my chapped dry crusty musty lips lift slightly.

Then I remember that Hecate is missing.

The temptation to use my powers have only increased since we got the letter about it.

After a little while which only felt like 5 minutes, theres the unmistakeable sound of the very rare Percy Jackson thumping down the stairs.

"Nico since when have you been up?"

"4:56 am." I smirk when he groans

"I dont understand how you manage to wake up at such ungodly hours a day. You slept at 11pm too!" He drastically sinks into the arms of a chair opposite to me and pretends to pass out.

I roll my eyes at my cousin, just as my other cousin walks over and sits on the floor right in the middle of us on a red rug.

"What will we do about Hecate?" she lowers her voice by a lot, although she didnt quite need to as there was barely anyone in here.

Only a bunch of sleeping students and us.

"I dont know, but if Hecate's gone and the mist is down then-" Thalia interrupts me

"Be quiet! People could listen-"

"Who? The rats?"

"Just shut up!"

"Eat my coc-"

"Guys shut up both of you." Percy stops us before this turns into a full fledged fight with both a full-fledged Thalia bird and a full-fledged Nico bird. "Let's just discuss this later ok?"

"Come on, we've been putting this one off forever." I groan.

He glares at me while I sigh.

"Fine then. Come on guys, we have a breakfast to get to."

So we go and get changed, completely oblivious to the boy listening.
