One Step Away From You

Chapter 9

Kate's POV

I am standing in front of the mirror in Jake's and I bedroom. I am wearing an light blue dress with a brown belt and my hair is curled. Jake bought a whole closet full of clothes, shoes, bags all that kind of stuff. I must say, he has good taste for fashion. I look at the heels Jake picked out for me. I see in the corner of my eye some black converse. I don't hesitate for a moment and grab the converse. I put them on and walk out of the room. "Hey! Kate!" Jake says and I twirl around. "Wow I didn't thought it would look this good on you!" He looks down at my feet and frowns. "What a nice choice of shoes.." He says and I grin. "Come on, we need to announce our new pack members." Jake says and he tries to grab my hand. I pull my hand back and walk a bit quicker to the garden. I see Kevin, Jessica and Dylan standing on an stage. There are a lot of other people in the garden from our pack. I see Justin standing at the garden doors and give him a hug and an warm smile. "Ladies and gentlemen, our Alpha and Luna arrived." Justin announces. Everybody stops talking and looks at us. Jake and I walk to the stage and I hear people whisper.

"Is she the new Luna?!"
"I thought she was dead."
"He already moved on from Natalie?"
"What a slut."

I raise up my chin and walk with confidence. Jake and I walk up on the stage and I give Jessica,Dylan and Kevin a hug. Jake pulls me softly so I stand next to him. And then Jake's speech begins.

"Today we will meet our new members of our pack. We will accept them with a warm heart like they deserve. And we will celebrate for our Luna, my mate." Jake takes my hand and gives a kiss on it. I give him a fake smile. "Now we all shall celebrate that the Moon Goddess blessed us with our new members. I present to you, our new members; Kevin, Jessica and Dylan." Everybody claps and continues with the party.

I walk back to Kevin and give him a hug. "Please don't leave me with him for the rest of the night." I whisper. Kevin strokes my hair softly and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "I will protect you with my life." He whispers. We hear a growl and that's our clue to let each other go. I walk back to Jake with a bowed head. Jake tills my head up with two finger under my chin. "Do you love him?" He asks and I shake my head. Jake grins. "So you love me?"
I look away. "I didn't say that."
I suddenly see Faye standing next to Justin. I feel tears burning in my eyes and I run to her. I embrace her and she hugs me back, I hear her sniffing. I pull back and wipe away her tears. "I thought you were gone for good." She says.

Well that was the plan. Sky suddenly says.

Sky! She is our sister. You can't say that. I reply.

"Where are mom and dad?" I ask and Faye points at some people at the buffet. I walk over there and don't see my parents. Suddenly out of nowhere someone gives me a bone crushing hug. I turn around and hug the person back. "Mom, I missed you so much." I say and hear her cry. I feel another pair of arms around me. The person gives an kiss on my head. "We thought we lost you." My dad says. "Well I am back. And I missed you guys also very much." They let go of me and go talk to Faye and Justin. I turn around and bump into Jake. Jake holds me back with one arm and presses me against his chest. "Sorry my fault." He says with a grin. "It's okay." He still smiles like a mad man. "Is everything alright?" I ask and he laughs. "This is the first time you let me hold you." He says and I step away from him. He grabs my hands and put them on his shoulder. "What are you planning?" I ask him and he snakes his arms around my waist. "It is the first slow dance and since we are Alpha and Luna it is normal that we do the first dance." I grab one of his hands and place mine in it. "Fine but then we do it like this." He grins and leads me to the dance floor. He immediately gets in position and we start dancing. Our bodies move in perfect rhythm and it feels like the whole world disappears for a second. The song is over and everybody claps. Jake takes my hand and presses a kiss on it. "Thank you for this lovely dance."
He says and I smile. I must say, he is kinda nice.

Wait what?!
