One Step Away From You

Chapter 13

*One week later*

Kate's POV

I walk into the Alpha and Luna office with two mugs of coffee. "Hey Jake." I say and put one mug down on his desk. "Thanks darling." Jake says and he gives me a kiss on the cheek. He turns his head back to his work and I sit down in my desk. I sigh and start doing some work. Jake slaps his hands on the table what scares me. "You know what? We worked hard enough the past few days. I say we go on a date, what do you think?" Jake says and I nod. "Yeah I could really use a break from school and the Luna stuff." Jake smiles. "Then it is settled, tonight we go on our first date." I smile back at him and finish my work.

Around 6 pm I jump out of the shower and I walk with a towel around myself to the closet. I grab a dress and put it on. I grab a jacket and a pair of heels. After I am completely done, I walk downstairs and to my surprise. Jake is already standing downstairs. "Hey." I say and he turns around and smiles.
"You look incredible." He says and I give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, you look incredible too." Jake grabs my hand. "Thank you." He leads me to his car and opens the door for me. I get in and Jake gets in himself. Jake starts driving and I look outside the window hoping for some clues. "So where are we going?" I ask him and he grins. "That is top secret." I look at him like I hate him. "You're no fun." I say and cross my arms like a little child. Jake laughs and gives a quick kiss on my hand.

After at least 1 hour we finally arrive at an forest. "Are we lost?" I ask Jake and he shakes his head. He puts his hands over my eyes. I want to pull them away but Jake whispers in my ear. "Just trust me." I lower my hands and relax. We walk for a good 5 minutes before Jake pulls his hands away. "Open your eyes."
He says and I open my eyes to see the most gorgeous tree in my whole life that is planted in a field full of flowers. "Oh my. Jake this is beautiful!" I say and give him a hug. "That was a nice surprise wasn't it?" He says and I smile mischievous. "I got a surprise for you also but you have to wait for that." He nods. "I understand that but for you I'll wait a million years." I give him a kiss in the corner of his mouth. I pull back and his eyes widen a bit. "You love teasing me, don't you?" I giggle and nod. We sit down on the blanket and start eating the food that Jake made. Potato salad and fried chicken and of course as dessert; chocolate strawberries. It is absolutely amazing and we have a lot of fun. After we finish dinner, Jake sets down an radio. He stands up and he pulls out his hand for me. "May I have this dance?" He asks and I grab his hand. "Of course." He helps me up and the radio starts playing music. Jake puts a hand on my lower back and grabs my hand in his other hand. I put my free hand on his shoulder and we start dancing. We don't talk trough the whole song but it is nice and comfortable dancing with him. The song ends and we give each other a hug. As we pull away I give Jake a peck on the lips. His eyes widen. "Was that my surprise? Because it was a pretty great one." I giggle and give him another peck. He leans back in and our lips start moving in sync. After a couple seconds we pull away. "You don't know how long I waited for that." He says and I smile. "Well, was it worth waiting for?" He smiles from ear to ear. "Definitely." We kiss again and that is how we end our perfect date.
