●AUTHOR'S POV●
"You have no right to make this decision alone, Queen Y/n!"
Yoongi’s voice thundered through the chamber, reverberating off the stone walls like a war drum. But she stood her ground, calm and unmoved, her gaze fixed on him like steel."I have every right, King Yoongi. I am Queen—this kingdom is as much mine as it is yours."
Her voice was cool, sharp, and unyielding—an iron blade sheathed in velvet.Yoongi's jaw clenched. "Yes, you may act as you wish... but this?" His voice cracked under the weight of dread. "This is madness. You're walking into danger—into the very heart of a kingdom that could betray you the moment you arrive. And to just name me monarch in your place?" He shook his head, eyes burning with fear. "What if something happens to you? Gods, Y/n—what then?"
She took a slow breath, unfazed. "I’m not marching to war, Yoongi. I’m going to speak. That’s all. And unlike you, I’m not doing it in secret. I came to you—not with swords drawn, but with honesty."
Yoongi faltered. Her words struck him like arrows—each one reminding him of his own deception.
"I was wrong," he said hoarsely, stepping closer, desperation softening his voice. "I should’ve told you about the plan before. If this is your way of punishing me—if you're doing this out of anger—then I’ll do anything, anything to make it right. But don’t go. Please… not for your sake—" His hand reached out, trembling slightly, "—but for our unborn child."But she stepped back.
His hand hung in the air, empty.
"This isn’t about revenge, Yoongi." Her voice was quieter now, but there was a weight behind every word. "I’m doing what must be done. You may not see it now, but I am trying to prevent something far worse than a broken promise." Her gaze flicked to his hand, still outstretched, and something in her expression faltered—just for a moment.
It hurt, seeing him like this. Vulnerable. Pleading. But she hardened her heart again. There was no room for hesitation now.
"I know trusting me isn't easy anymore," she whispered. "But just this once—please. Trust that I would never put the heir of Welkin in danger. Not if I had another choice."
Yoongi wanted to speak—to tell her that it wasn’t just the child he feared losing—it was her. But before he could utter a single word, a knock pierced the tension.
"Your Highness," came the guard’s voice from beyond the doors, "King Seokjin requests an audience."
Silence followed.
Yoongi turned to her one last time. His voice was low but steady.
"I trust you, Queen Y/n... even if it tears me apart."Then he left.
And when the doors closed behind him, Y/n allowed herself a single, shaky breath. She knew he still didn’t understand. Knew he thought she was being reckless. But this—this was the only way to stop what was coming.
Even if it meant breaking both their hearts.
