From the very beginning, our fate is closely intertwined.

What is the purpose of memories if they're forgotten? People yearn for connection; it is instinct. Tell me, what are mortals if not for their history?

"Y/n?" A voice called, making her snap out of her daze. She blinked as she turned to see who called her; it was Sanzu. "Called you a bunch of times, don't tell me you're thinking of work?" He teased.

They were already in the resort, unpacking and checking out the two-bedroom villa they rented. Hina was in the other room, helping Takemichi unpack, which leaves Y/n and Sanzu together, exploring the place.

She rolled her eyes half-heartedly. "I have nothing to worry about that, Souta's very capable," Y/n says, assuring him or herself.

He then leaned close with a cheeky smile. "You have that look on your face," Sanzu then lightly poked her cheek. "You're overthinking. What's up?"

"Since when could you read me so well?" She chuckled, subtly admitting to his assumption, but then again, Y/n doesn't recall ever lying to Sanzu. "I'm not really sure. I feel like I've forgotten something."

"Forgotten something? What is it?" Sanzu looked at her intently, his brows furrowed just a tiny bit. "Can I help?"

"I'm not sure," She hums. "It's not something, or maybe it was," Y/n exhales. "I don't know, but it has something to do with what Hina told me in the car,"

Sanzu just listened; he was sure he slept throughout the trip, so there was no way he could've eavesdropped.

Y/n continued. "She mentioned something about me going on a school trip with her back then, and I pride myself on my memory, okay? I remember all one hundred and forty-three pastries with their ingredients, recipes, and variations," She pauses. "My point is, I'm sure I couldn't have forgotten something pivotal like a middle-school trip, that's like the equivalent of... well, like seeing a unicorn as a kid. You know what I mean?"

He nods. "Yeah, I get you. I mean, I remember even the most useless thing from middle school... especially with puberty and all, it's like the peak of teenage life," Sanzu pats her head. "But hey, maybe your knowledge of all one hundred and forty-three pastries took up all your memory space," He joked, hoping to ease her.

She chuckles softly before pausing; she can't help but think about it. "But I feel so restless about it, it makes me weirdly anxious."

His gaze softened. "I'll stick by you and we'll figure it out, yeah?"

She smiled softly. "Yeah,"

Then Hina peeked in the room where Y/n and Sanzu were. "Hey, there's free lunch in the resort gazebo." She informs with her usual smile.

Sanzu glances at Y/n. "Free and lunch, a delightful combination,"

"Totally agree," Y/n chuckles as she looks at Sanzu as well, before they follow Hina when she walks off.
