Months later forty year old Melissa Calloway, twenty-nine year old Julian Williamson, thirty year old Devon Cager and sixty year old Marie Nicholson were convicted of the heinous crime of conspiring and premeditated assassination of Ceyon Montcliffe, in cold blood.
They were each sentenced to three consecutive terms of one hundred years each. No matter how loud Marie Nicholson and her high-powered Kingstonian lawyer screamed the jury had the last say.
It was reported on the TVJ News that,
"Four prisoners were taken from the St. Thomas jail to the prison in Kingston. While en route the prison bus broke down. The four prisoners somehow managed to overpowered four of the officers and obtained their weapons and started firing at them. The other officers who followed in a police vehicle had no recourse but to shoot to kill the four convicted prisoners.
Dead at the scene are one Melissa Calloway, Julian Williamson, Devon Cager and Marie Nicholson the previous President of the University of Jamaica, accused of engineering the assassination of Ceyon Montcliffe, a senior lecturer of the university.
There is a police investigation pending in this case."
Mason turned off the television after that news segment. His cell phone rang.
"Hello."
"Mason? Timar here."
"Yeah man, I just saw the news! What happened with the prisoners?"
"Well, between you and me, and I will deny ever having told you this. But the cops taking them to the prison stopped on the way. Let them out in a field. The cops fired off four rifles into the air then handed them each a rifle. All of them refused to take a rifle but the police forced them to take one each. Then the officers opened fire on the four of them and they swore that the prisoners fired first. With four rifles fired and the prisoners fingerprints on the rifles its an open and shut case for the police involved. There will be an inquest just to appease the families of the prisoners but the police will be exonerated."
Mason was speechless. "Man, what can I say?"
"Yeah man, what can I say? Those cops loved Ceyon. He did so much for all of them. Remember those cops have to pay their taxes to feed those monsters in prison that took Ceyon's life. That was too much for them to handle. That was the straw that broke the camel's back."
"Wow!" Was all Mason could say.
"Jungle justice bro." Said Timar.
"Jungle justice." Echoed Mason Adams.
Later that day, Gigi was sitting waiting in the car across the street from Mrs. Montcliffe's house. She watched as Mason walked up the path to the front door.
Ceyon's mother slowly opened the door. Gigi couldn't hear what was being said but after a couple of minutes Mrs. Montcliffe jumped into Mason's arms and embraced him so tight in gratitude. She actually had a smile on her face. She kissed Mason on the cheek. She kept patting his arm and nodding her head in approval with a smile on her face, as Mason spoke to her.
Mrs. Montcliffe stood and watched as he walked down the path to the waiting car.
She smiled, waved, then slowly closed the door.
"'Now if it was with an instrument of iron
that he has struck him so that he dies,
he is a murderer.
Without fail the murderer should be put to death.
And if it was with a small stone by which he could die
that he has struck him so that he dies,
he is a murderer.
Without fail the murderer
should be put to death.
And if it was with a small instrument of wood
by which he could die that he has struck him
so that he dies,
he is a murderer.
Without fail the murderer
should be put to death.
Numbers 35:16-18
It couldn't get much clearer than that, could it?
Mason wanted to see this scripture fulfilled.
It was.

Ceyon Montcliffe
