I felt as if I'd been hit by a brick, I was in so much pain, and I didn't know where I was. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, everything was blurry at first but I finally managed to make out where I was. It was obviously a hospital room, I turned my head to the left, wincing as I felt my head pounding. In the seat next to me was Liam, he had tear tracks down his face and he looked like hell. My right hand was occupied too, so I slowly turned to the right and gasped when I saw Chris sitting there clinging onto me for dear life. I couldn't remember what had happened, the last thing I felt was somebody kicking me in the head and that's it.

Both of them were asleep and I didn't want to disturb them as I was feeling tired myself, so with that said, I closed my eyes and let darkness take over me for a little while longer.

---

When I opened my eyes again, both of the boys were awake and once they saw me awake, they flew into action. Liam ran outside and shouted for a nurse, and Chris was carefully holding my face to make sure that I was alright.

"Oh beautiful, thank god you're finally awake!" He stroked over my cheekbone and kissed my forehead. "Are you in any pain?"

I nodded yes and pointed to the side of my head because it hurt so much. He stroked over the spot I pointed to and closed my eyes because it didn't hurt when he soothed it. I kept my eyes closed as he started talking again. "I was so worried baby! You didn't show up and I thought that maybe traffic was super busy but then about an hour later after you was supposed to have arrived, I got a call from Liam saying that you had been beaten up and in hospital."

'SORRY' I signed with one hand.

Chris' face dropped and something passed across his eyes but I didn't know what. I ignored it and stayed silent as Chris continued to talk about how much he was worried about me.

I looked up as the door slammed open and Liam was rushing in with a nurse behind him. "[Y/N]!" He exclaimed.

"You're finally awake, we've been so so worried about you!" I gave him a weak smile and his face dropped. "Oh you're not-"

"Liam don't." Chris warned him.

I looked at both of them confusedly and Liam was on the verge of tears. I wondered what the hell was going on.

"Good morning [Y/N]," The nurse finally spoke. "Are you in any pain?"

I nodded and showed her where and in an instant, she was giving me something to help with the pain. She explained my injuries to me and I was relieved to find out that I didn't have any long term damage - just a few cuts and bruises and a broke arm. Once she made sure that I was comfortable, she left the room leaving just me, Liam and Chris.

Both boys looked sad and weren't saying much and I knew there was something going on and I wanted to know what. I tapped Liam's arm and motioned typing with the arm that was functional, and he took his phone out, handing it over to me with a questioning look.

'WHAT'S GOING ON?' I typed out before handing it over to Liam.

He read it then handed it over to Chris, both of them looked like they wanted to keep quiet until Liam spoke up. "Look [Y/N].." He trailed off. "I don't know if you remember but when you woke up earlier.." He stopped talking for a minute and looked over at Chris. "You started calling Chris' name and wanting to know where he was."

'WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?' I typed back into the phone. I was still a little confused about everything happening around me.

"Don't you get it [Y/N].." Liam stressed. "You spoke. Words actually came out of your mouth for the first time in years."

I stared at him in shock. I didn't believe a word he said, I looked over at Chris with pleading eyes begging him to tell me it wasn't true but he just gave me a sympathetic smile and suddenly I didn't feel like seeing anybody right now - so I closed my eyes and ignored both of them.

---

When I woke up again, it wasn't Chris or Liam by my side - it was my dad. I was speechless, I had no idea what to say at all, and the worst part of it was that he had been crying. Once he saw that I was awake, he took my hand and his rough voice started talking. "I can't believe somebody would do this to you," He started speaking. "I didn't even know what was going on until your boyfriend starting banging on our front door demanding that I fix myself up." My heart soared that Chris would do something like that for me. "..and then I get here to see what's happened to you and I can't blame anybody but myself. If I had tried harder with you and had been the proper father I should have been then maybe you would have been happier."

I didn't know what to say to him.. I couldn't say anything to him. In the back of my mind, Liam's words were all I could think about but I couldn't remember talking at all. I just stared at my dad and said nothing at all to him. But then his posture changed and all I could see was determination in his eyes, something I had never seen before. "I know we have so much to talk about," He said squeezing your hand. "But I'm going to promise you now that I'm going to get some help because I know I need it, and I'm going to make sure that I never drink again." I didn't know if I believed his words. "..and then we're going to work together to make sure you're happy and you never get hurt again."

Listening to my day's words and promises, I could only hope he kept them and didn't break them like he had so many times before.
