Chapter Six
I return to work the next Monday. The boss has been very generous about the situation and understands that it was necessary I took the time off. I needed time to recuperate. I was far from okay, but I was now functioning. I would get better with time, but only after I found my love.
It had been 8 Sundays since she left me. These past weeks have been work, drink, eat, feed Tiger, walk Tiger, sleep, repeat. I have been like a robot, only talking when talked to. I decided to go back out on a search.
I was curious to see if she was even still in New York. She had eventually blocked me on Facebook and whatever other social media I had. I had absolutely no way of contacting or knowing how she was.
She blocked my phone after the 18th call in the middle of the night.
I returned to the city and asked everyone around me "I don't mean to be a bother, but have you seen this girl? She's been running through my dreams, and it's driving me crazy, it seems."
I still kept her engagement ring in my pocket everyday, in case I found her.
It was pathetic, but she was all I had.
She was all I needed.
