Chapter Four: No Trespassing

When we got into the vehicle, Kat took a deep breath and grabbed my hand. "I'm kind of scared, but at the same time really excited..." Kat admitted, looking over at me. "We don't have to go..."I suggest, looking at her. "No, we need too. Fear is the most powerful emotion, and we need to defeat it." She huffs, looking forward. I sigh and turn the car on, pulling out right behind Cam and Andrea. We were the last ones out.

We all pull onto the road and begin our long journey to the cities hospital just on the outer edge of town. The car was silent, I wasn't sure if Kat was mad at me because I keep suggesting that we don't go, or if she's mad at me because I don't want to go. My mind races, and my pulse thumps. I seriously don't want to sound like a wimp right now but all I can picture right now is bloody faces son. The blood spraying out of that dudes arm because it got ripped off; seriously, what if that happens?

I shake my head of those thoughts and focus on the road in front of me. We pass a bunch of trick-or-treaters, I watch them all as I drive slowly in caution. A little girl prances around in what I think is, a princess outfit; She looks so happy, her hair long and brown, her eyes look brown too. she kinda reminds me of kat in a way, but younger. I look away from the kid and look at another, Dracula. The basic Halloween costume that al kids want to be. I shake my head and smile, remembering when I wanted to be Dracula for Halloween, too.

A little version of me, running through the store, looking for the one costume I wanted, Dracula. I knew that there was going to be a lot of Dracula's out, but I didn't care, I just wanted to be a vampire. When I finally found it I was so happy. My mother smiled at me and took me to ring it up. I felt so powerful. And that Halloween, I was the best Dracula on the streets, I made kids jealous.

"I'm sorry, I know you're scared but it's gonna be okay." Kat says, breaking the silence, I glance at her and look back at the road. "No, i'm sorry, i'm being a big baby about it when I don't need to be. We need to have fun and live our lives." I speak up and put my hand on her thigh. "Shawn.." she sighs, I don't really know what's going through her head, but she stops speaking and looks back at the window, she held my hand as I sat on her thigh, I know shes mad, or what ever emotion she's feeling, but at least I know that she still loves me.

We finally exit the town and start to drive along a long winding road. Trees covered both sides of the road, and the outside was completely engulfed in black, besides the light from the headlights of the three cars.

Kat, at this point looked forward, because no one likes the woods at night. Thecar was silent again, and my fear grew bigger and bigger as every second ticked by. At some point we passed a sign telling us that we were three miles from the hospital, which made Kat squeeze my hand harder when she read it.

The road winded one more time, and then it came into view. The hospital. It didn't really look like the hospitals we have today, it literally looks like Briarcliff from American horror story. It was tall, intimidating. Half the windows had been broken, the other half were boarded up. The stone was greenish grey, and the yard in front was gross and not taken care of. The moon gave us some light as we pulled up into the parking lot. The hospital was surrounded by a giant fence with barbwire topping it. I thought about whipping out of this parking lot and driving down the road as fast as I can home, but I put the car in park instead and sat there staring. It's creepier up close, it looks like it's just gonna fall down right on top of us.

My eyes scan the old building, looking in the broken windows for any pre-ghosts or animals. I don't see any, but I did get the shit scared out of me when Cam hit the window and yelled I then realized that Kat was out there too. how long was I staring at it? I laugh as to wipe off my fear, and I turn the car off and get out. "Shit, its dark out.." I say, closing the door. "Yeah it is, that's why we got a crap ton of flash lights and stuff. So we can see duh. It is midnight..." Andrea said, popping my trunk and grabbing the bags out of it. We walk over to Daniels truck, where Ashley is sitting (on the truck bed)waiting for us. She sets the bags on the bed and pulls all of the backpacks out. We separate the stuff evenly between us, and then she pulls out a pack of water from dan's truck, and puts quite a few bottles in each bag. "So, I think we are good on the flashlights and stuff, here's the headlight thingies. We each get 5 individual flashlights in our bags, and five waters, which I think that's good. We of course also get a GoPro cam, and these headband lights, so yeah, I think we're good." Andrea announces and hands us each a bag. We only can see each others faces out here because we're all dressed in black.

"The sign says No Trespassing." I announce, almost like I was asking to get made fun of. "Aw, is little shawn scared" Daniel says, laughing. He hits my back lightly and walks towards the fence. Everyone follows. I stay behind, and pul Kat to my face. "I Love You" I announce. "I love you too." she says with a sigh. I pull her into a kiss, like it was our last kiss, and pull away. "Remember that." I say. She rolls her eyes and pulls me to the fence with everyone else. "So who goes first?" Cam asks, looking at all of us. We all paused; we all were scared, we just didn't want to admit it. No one wants to admit fear. "I'll go." Ashley announces, slipping through the fence, I already felt bad for her. Next up was Kat. I felt like I wanted to cry, it was terrifying to see her go towards that fence. I don't know what was going through my head at this point, but I know I've already said this. "It says no trespassing, I don't think this is a good idea! What if something happens?" I said, staring at Kat as she slips through the gates of the hospital.  "It will be fine, anyways, if anything happens, just scream" She said to me and the other four with us. We all repeated her "If anything happens, just scream" I didn't know what i was saying. I mean, "Just scream" did not make my nerves calm down at all. Next to go was Andrea, who slipped in with no issue at all, then Dan went  for it, and cam after him.

I hesitated for a second, staring at it, weighing my options, but I finally went through the gate. At this point, we're all fucked. We turn on our head flash lights, and we slowly walk towards the front door. Well, if we got caught now, we definitely will go to jail. My foot slowly steps up the concrete stairs until I'm face to face with this gross door. There is a big "X" on it made by 2x4's Almost like saying "Oh hey, y'all are gonna get fucked up good luck" I think we'll need that.
