We all stare at each other, everyone was either crying or about there.
We nodded in agreement.
The girls cried out again. It's almost like it was one of those really bad horror films.
I grabbed Kats hand and pulled her close to me and slowly began walking to the actual entrance of the hospital.
The smell was completely numb to me by this point, I just want to get out of here, with all of us safe.
Eventually Dan and cam along with ash and Andrea were in front of us.
Kat pulled on my arm and whispered "we need to talk" my heart felt like it was stopping. That didn't sound like the "we need to talk" that I want to hear.
I swallowed hard before I spoke. "Shoot" I said and looked at her, but still aware of our surroundings.
"I'm sorry for being so cruel earlier. I didn't mean to make it so bad when I jerked my hand away. It's just that today's a day that we planned to have fun, and we always do something scary for Halloween. But this year, you were being a big baby about it every 3 minutes, it was pretty embarrassing because when they made fun of you for being scared, they were making fun of me too. And yes, I know that they are our friends and they don't mean to be mean and stuff, but it really hurts, because I'm scared too, scared to the point that I'm probably on the verge of peeing myself. But anyways, it was just making me mad about how complain-y you were, and how it was also influencing their decision to make fun of me too... But you were right about this place, you can say I told you so..."
Relief washes over me completely, I dunno what I was thinking, I mean, I knew she wasn't breaking up with me, I seriously don't even know what the bad thing was that I was thinking.
I stop walking and pull her into a hug, I softly kiss her on the head and apologize.
She sighs and pulls me closer, and then we remember where we are.
She pulls away from me, but keep her hand in mine, and we jog to catch up to them.
The lights on our heads are just enough to light up the way. They illuminate the walls, and the floor, the dirt beneath the tracks, and the dust in front of the lights.
We all start to increase our speed as we walk past the barrel holding our breath. Andrea cries out once more and walks faster down the track. Kat squeezes my hand and pulls me along with her.
As we run the door to the inside of the hospital comes into view and we realize that its cracked open.
We all stop running and look at each other. "Do you think what ever killed those people are in there?" Andrea said, her voice small, curious and scared.
"I dunno, but we're just gonna have to find out..." Dan said and slowly walked to the door. He pushed on the door lightly, and the door open slowly with a squeak "errrkk." He looks back at me and signals me to come up there with him.
I weave in between them and meet him up there, Kat right by my side.
He looks at me, I'm guessing counting to three because when I get to three we both walk in the room.
The room was dark, empty, the only thing in the room was a stretcher that was laying on its side.
The floors were a gross gray brown, and the walls were white but were stained by something brown.
We look around the room and make sure that it was clear before signaling them to come in.
We all stand in the middle of the room and look around.
"we're going to have to split up" Dan announced, the girls did not like that.
"Why??" Ashley asked, grabbing his hand, already claiming her partner. "We need to cover more ground to look for an exit that works" he said, looking at all of us.
"We have Walkie talkies, when we find an exit we can tell each other where to go." He said, taking his backpack off his shoulders, and opening it to get the Walkie talkies.
We all nod and do the same.
We all turn them on and check if they work, which they did.
"Okay, so every 20 minutes of us not finding a door, we need to check in, the safe word is 'check' and like Kat said, if anything happens just scream." He said, looking at all of us. We nod our heads yes and look around too.
"Okay, Ash you come with me, Cam and Andrea you're together, and of course Shawn and Kat you're together." We nodded again, and I pulled Kat closer to me.
"Alright. What's the safe word?" Dan drilled looking at us, "check" we all said at once.
"Alright, let's get out of here safe!" He said, and we all took different paths out of the room.
Me and Kat took the second door, which led us to some kind of office, it was full of patient records, and books.
I picked up a paper and looked through it, the patient was only in here because she was a lesbian.
I will never understand why people think it's okay to judge someone over their sexuality.
"Listen to this one" Kat says, I guess she was looking at papers too. "Michael Clifford.. He was 21 when he came in here. He was in here because he had schizophrenia..." She looks up at me, and then down at the paper. "How he got in here in the first place..." She said like she was searching for an answer "Oh god." She shrieked. "He killed his family... It says he stabbed his mom 37 times" she said looking up at me.
My spine shivered and the sick feeling in my stomach came back.
"He claimed that they were aliens trying to abduct him." She said, this time not too scared. Her eyebrows were drawn together as she focused on the paper she was reading.
I looked down at the table and found another patient report and picked it up.
"Here's one" I said, looking up at her to see if I got her attention, "Liam Payne, 22, in here for sawing off all his fingers and toes, and reattaching them in the opposite places. Like his fingers were on his feet" I looked up at her again and she looked amused.
She put her paper down and picked up another, shook her head and then set it down, and picked another up.
"Lilly demetri, 16, she sawed off her arms and sewed them to her stomach" she said, looking up at me.
I grimaced a little and searched for another paper.
"Louis Tomlinson, 18, murdered a fellow student by gouging out his eyes.." By this time we had enough and stopped looking through the papers.
There was a door at the far corner of the office, it was closed but there was a key in the desk.
I grabbed the key and walked over to the door and unlocked it.
It creaked open and the room came into view.
When I looked at the wall, it had a sign labeled "lobotomy."
My stomach turned once more at the thought of someone in that chair getting needles hammered into their eye sockets.
I stared at the chair. It was white, stained with blood at the top, and had restraints everywhere.
These poor patients must have had to gone through a lot.
There was another door across the room, so we slowly walked to it, looking all around the room.
When we reached the door, the sign above it was labeled "cell block C"
I swallowed hard and twisted the knob silently hoping it wouldn't open, but it did, and it made an even louder screech than the first few.
A hallway came into view, and a rat scattered across the floor when our lights touched it.
Kat almost screamed but I stopped her from screaming by putting my hand over her mouth.
"We're fine" I cooed and pulled her close to me.
We slowly stepped into the room.
