Hunter’s POV
God Melody was stubborn! I had seen her at one of the tables with that other waiter from the diner and two other guys and I had immediately seen my chance to get her attention, I’d just play and sing, it was the oldest trick in the book but it was also the only thing I was really good at. Despite this she still hadn’t even given me a smile! If it weren’t for the random girls swirling around me I would’ve begun to wonder if my performance really had been as good as I thought.
She really had me frustrated that Melody. I couldn’t figure out why she seemed to despise me so much; I know my arrogance sometimes gets a bit too much but that didn’t give her a reason to completely ignore me.
“May I ask why a guy like you drinks alone in a bar full of women?” A high-pitched voice woke me from my daydreaming. A short brunette with some of the craziest curls I’ve ever seen was standing next to me twirling a some of her hair between her fingers.
“It really is a shame, isn’t it?” I asked and gave her a half smile.
“Then I suppose you don’t mind if I join you?” She said as she hopped on the barstool next to me.
Tansy, the brunette, and I ended up having a really fun. We got rounds of shots and flirted. Let me tell you now, there is nothing, and I mean nothing, wrong with my charms so my drunk conclusion is that there’s something wrong with Melody who by the way hadn’t even looked over at me once this entire evening. But oh well I’ve got Tansy here and who knows she might be the solution to my writer’s block!
I felt something tickle me on my nose and my back hurt terribly. I opened my eyes and saw a butterfly just taking a break right on my nose. The daylight was so bright it blinded me but I was pretty sure I was in my truck. What the hell was I doing in my truck? I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Looking out of the open car window all I saw was grass and more grass. When I turned my head around I could see my trucks tracks too, I had definitely been drunk last night judging by the straightness of them. I guess driving home would be what anyone else would do in this situation but my head hurt and I was pretty sure I was still drunk so why not sleep a little more I thought and closed my eyes.
Melody’s POV
“You do realize I have never sat on a horse in my entire life?” I asked nervously as Kyle threw me up on the, in my opinion, huge brown horse with scary legs that could probably run really fast and throw me off easily.
“Calm your nerves Melody, it’s just a horse. It won’t hurt you, or it probably won’t.” Kyle told me and sighed as he threw himself up on the black and white dotty horse, or as he called it “the appaloosa”. When his horse started walking forward mine took a quick step to catch up with him and I let out a little squeal. I really didn’t know why I had agreed to this. Somehow the subject horses had come up last night and I might have mentioned my fear for them and the Kyle told me I could get over my fear on one of his uncles horses. It sure wasn’t helping.
“Let’s just ride across the field over there it looks peaceful, and the grass will suppress the fall if you were to fall off.” Kyle laughed.
“Kyle, is it normal that there’s car tracks in the field?” I asked.
“What! No, not at all! If people are unable to read a “No Trespassing” sign they shouldn’t be allowed to have a license!” Kyle answered as he threw his leg over the horse’s back and walked over to the tracks to examine them.
“Well whoever was driving was either one of the crappiest drivers ever or really shitfaced.” He muttered. I was just about to jump of the horse myself and almost had my leg over when a loud roar from a motor cut the other peaceful silence. The brown horse with scary long legs freaked. His ears were now stroked down against his neck and his eyes wide open. For short short moment I thought he was just going to stand there like that but then he took off. And lord I was right when it came to his running. He was fast, really fast. His hoofs hit the ground like drumsticks and he wasn’t slowing down anytime soon. Being in the middle of jumping off the horse when he panicked I hadn’t even had a good balance when he took off and now wasn’t the easiest time to regain it. Instead I felt my self slowly sliding over to the left and I saw the ground moving closer and closer to me. And then I fell.
