Nothing of the storyline is changed. I rewrote my terrible paragraphs. :)
--------------------

Rolling over in my bed, I decided not to actually do my homework for the night. My mind was already exhausted from the biology book our teacher gave us to read, meaning there will be a big exam tomorrow morning. The pile of books and notes stared at me from my table, as if calling for me to read them and finish my project on the ecosystem.

My mind traveled away from my homework to a place we call the back of our minds. 'Were in the world is my dad?' He hasn't been home for about a week now. Every time I tried asking my mom about it, the only answers she gave me was 'he's busy' or 'he's working at the office'. But the most common sentence is 'he's on a business trip, don't worry about that. It's none of your concern, sweetie'. It made me a little depressed seeing as my mother clearly didn't trust me with information. I deserve to know, because he is my dad after all.

I slowly got up and walked to my window. It was already starting to get dark. Just one look outside always made me cool down. My eyes yet again scanned the beautiful trees all around. Living outside of the city feels so refreshing and the calm aura always helps to clear my mind from dark thoughts. I recalled the times when I used to sneak out at night and wonder aimlessly around the forest. I stopped my habit in order to focus more on studying until 1 am to get a somewhat good grade in any exam. To be fair, I missed the feeling of excitement as I walked around the paths I've taken thousands of times. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips as I remembered my dad, who used to walk around the forest with me during the day.

My eyes lingered by the golden horizon. The sun kept sinking behind the trees, painting the forest with gold and orange hues. I sighed, but smiled lightly as the last rays of sunlight shined upon my face only to disappear after a while.

A feeling bubbled in my stomach. It was very familiar. The feeling of wanting to be a rebel and sneak out at night and take a walk around the magical forest once again, where I never could get lost because I knew the paths too well. Thinking the crispy night air might help me with remembering biology terms better, I made up my mind.

Once I finished putting away my homework, I waited for my mother to turn off the TV in the living room which always signaled she's about to go to sleep. I heard no sound coming from the room besides mine, which meant my little sister Amber was sound asleep.

I played random games on my laptop that my dad got for me last Christmas, waiting for time to pass. The laptop's wallpaper was my family. My mother stood next to me, a hand wrapped around my shoulders while smiling brightly at the camera. My sister Amber was on my dad's shoulders, her hands up in the air. It was taken when we had a picnic in the woods. My dad had seat it up near a lake and we always used to go there every summer, though we stopped our little tradition as my dad was busy with work.

Snapping out of my daze, I noticed the soft murmuring of the TV was no longer present. Closing my laptop, I threw myself off the bed and got dressed in warm clothes. I hoisted myself up on the windowsill one I had successfully opened the window without a sound. My gloved hands wrapped around a tree branch and I made a jump only to land on a thicker branch that supported my weight. I carefully slid myself off the branch and landed on my feet. I loved climbing that tree, because it felt like I was free to do anything I wanted and I quite frankly enjoyed that feeling.

I smiled to myself as I looked up at the full moon, it lighting the paths I could take. There was no sign of wind, it was quiet. Too quiet, to be honest. I brushed the feeling off and started moving towards the forest with my hands tucked into my jacket's pockets. I jumped over a small frozen puddle and waltzed my way into the forest. The air was fresh and I already felt a bit better. After doing that pile of homework, this was definitely what I needed.
