I reflexively took a few steps back, looking straight into those eyes.

Those blue eyes that I hated so much. That were my damn curse.

I had no doubt it was Him. The only thing that had changed was that He was rounder, much rounder, and that His hair was shorter.

"Peter? What's going on?" May stepped in front of me, blocking the man from my view. "Hey, are you okay?' she asked, concerned, scanning my face.

I couldn't get a single word out, even though I wanted so badly to tell her to run away.

  "Peter?"

'M-Mr. Adams…" I began, looking back at him who was still standing in the same spot.

He didn't seem to understand what was happening, but I had spent almost five years with him. He had perfect control over his facial expressions. And I knew it.

Edward took a few steps towards us, and I, like a coward, turned on my heel and started running.

I heard May calling behind me, but I couldn't stop. My body, it acted on its own.

I didn't even realize at what moment tears started rolling down my cheeks. Damn...

I ran from the sidewalk into the street where I really didn't notice the car driving by...

The vehicle started honking but managed to brake in time, so no one was hurt.

I continued to run ahead, not paying attention to anything, not even knowing where. As long as I was away from him…

  Pov: May Parker

"Peter!" I called after him, confused by the way he suddenly acted.

In an instant, his whole demeanor changed. He looked scared, and his running away, even after almost being hit by a car, confirmed everything.

  But why!?

  It was so sudden!

I was about to run after him when Harold's hand on my shoulder stopped me.

  "I don’t understand," he began.

"Me too." I said immediately, looking at him with frightened eyes.

"What I mean is... As soon as he saw me, he turned completely pale and ran away." He listed, and I nodded.

  I only had one question.

  Why?

Why was he so keen on my partner, had they met before? Maybe he reminded him of someone? Peter was whispering something behind him…

With wide eyes, I looked sharply at Hogan.

Either I am imagining it or he actually said “Mr. Adams.”

But why did he bring up Edward Adams here? The man who had done him so much harm.

"I think you might remind him of Edward Adams. His kidnapper. Or someone in his company, if he had any," I explained.

I will be grateful to Harold for the rest of my life, because if it weren't for him, I suspect they would have dropped the case altogether and stopped looking for Peter, who would have stayed there...

"What… What did you name him?" Breaking from my thoughts, I looked at “Happy,” as some people apparently called him.

"Edward Adams? Or rather Matthew..." I stopped, having completely forgotten the man's last name. It was a miracle I remembered that name, because at the time I had been too excited about my nephew being found. "Harold? Is everything okay?" I asked, seeing the fatter man freeze as hard as the child had a few minutes ago.
