~Evie's POV~
"No, no, no.... please, tell me this is a horrible, bad dream..." I say to myself in horror as I pick up the note on Mal's dresser.
Princess Evie,
We'll go back to 'where we belong', and we don't get in your way anymore. Enjoy your perfect life.
-M, Carlos, Jay.
Reading this, I feel myself starting to cry again. I treated my best friend and closest friends horribly, and like our 16 years of friendship didn't matter. I know that they must've gone bask to the Isle, that's the only place they would go to in a state like this...
I replay my fight with them, mainly Mal, in my head. I was wrong about everything, and I need to make this right.
"Princess Evie, is everything okay?" One of the maids says after coming into Mal's dorm room.
"No, it's not... please find Prince Ben immediately!" I say, panicking and pacing in fear. The maid quickly leaves, and I helplessly wait for Ben.
~Ben's POV~
I briskly walked to the dorms after being told Evie was found there in distress. "Evie? Evie, what's the matter? You know I'm not mad at you..." I say, affectionately touching Evie's face with my hands.
"N..No, it's not that, Ben... read this." Evie says, trembling a little. I take the letter, my eyes widening as I read it.
"You don't think... they went back to the Isle, do you? But, the Cotillion is in two days... Evie, we need to send a search party from the royal guard, to find them immediately." I say.
"No, Ben! If you do that, they'll probably get stuck there! The villains will revolt at the sight of anyone from Auradon." Evie says, still pacing. "I have to go and get Mal, Jay, and Carlos. I have to go alone, Ben! She's my best friend, and the boys are like brothers to me. I won't let them put themselves in danger because I failed as their friend!" Evie says, her voice breaking as she cries.
"Shhh... Evie, we'll make this right. Even if we can't send in the royal guards, I'm coming with you. Do you really think I would let you go by yourself?" Ben says. "I know you lived there for your whole life... but they have TVs, and newspapers. They definitely saw Coronation, and there's probably huge targets on both of our backs in the Isle." I say seriously. "Evie, you're taking me with you, or I won't let you go."
"But, Ben...! It's dangerous, especially for you! You're too nice... I won't let you risk your life for me like that!" Evie says sadly.
"We're going to get those three and leave right away. I promise. And...if anything DID happen, I would protect you with my life, Evie. But if we're careful, no one will even see us cross the barrier." I say.
Evie softens a little. "Okay... I'm fine with that. But Ben, you're going to be on my turf, so you have to listen to EVERYTHING I say, if you want to make it out alive. Do you understand?" Evie says in a stern tone.
"Yes, ma'am... I mean, Evie." I tease her a little and give her a gentle hug. "I will follow your lead on everything. Let's go get the limo." I say, starting to leave before Evie stops me.
"Hold on, where do you think you're going?" Evie says. "Ben, you can't go wearing... THAT. It gives up your identity right away!" Evie says, shaking her head. It was true, that I was always dressed in princely attire, at school.
"Okay, okay, I understand... did Jay or Carlos maybe leave anything behind, or do you have something I could--..." I start, but Evie's already going through her and Mal's closet.
"Just leave this part to me, Ben. I am the queen of makeovers, after all!" Evie says happily, giggling. Knowing how well Evie and Mal understand fashion, I trust their judgement completely.
~Evie's POV~
After a lot of hard work, I found the perfect outfits for me and Ben. I wear a jewel blue leather jacket with red leather gloves, a dark blue skirt, ripped black tights, and very high red and gold boots. I also put a special four-heart barette in my hair, which is still brown with blue tips. I make Ben match my outfit extremely well, and I had him wear a blue leather jacket with the Beast insignia, jeans, and a dark blue beanie.
"Wait! Something's not right..." I say before adjusting Ben's hat. "There, now you're perfect. Okay, now, we're going over the rules. Ben, no matter what, stay by my side, and DON'T get separated. That's when a Villain is more likely to capture you." I say seriously. Ben nods, listening to every word I say.
"You can't be polite, either. No thank yous, and drop the please, while you're at it. Don't smile, and your posture can't be as perfect as it always is, or that will give you away. And don't bring anything valuable! Pickpockets are rampant in the Isle." I say. "There is one girl who I'm worried about..."
"Who is it, Evie?" Ben asks.
"Well, she's Ursula's daughter, and she kind of took over the Isle when the four of us came to Auradon. Come on, let's walk." I say, and me and Ben quickly slip out to a discreet limousine that doesn't have the Beast insignia or royal colors on it. Ben is a good driver, so I feel perfectly comfortable.
"So, Uma is dangerous. Her minions, Harry Hook and Gil, are annoying and will bring you straight to Uma if they see you." I explain as Ben drives, pressing the button that opens the barrier.
"Got it, Evie. I will avoid Uma at all costs... wait, isn't Gil the--...?" Ben says with concern.
"Son of Gaston? Yes. And similarly to Gaston with your mother, Gil will always try and be charming with me... and other women, of course. Just don't let it bother you, it's what he does." I say, sighing. The truth is, I'm not perfectly innocent, here. Me and Ben haven't kissed, and I have never told any boy that I love him, including Ben. But, I did kiss boys on the Isle, including Harry Hook and Gil. I was a huge flirt back then, so I want to avoid my ex-flames if possible.
"I won't let him go near you, Evie. I've heard the stories from my mom, and I don't trust him with women, especially not you." Ben says, completely serious. I nod and stay quiet, looking out the window and deciding to focus for the rest of the car ride.
When we get there, we put a tarp over the limo, ensuring that no one will find it,or worse, steal it. I look around, everything looks the same and all too familiar.
"This place hasn't changed one bit..." I say, keeping my voice down. I gently take Ben's hand.
"This is the Isle, Ben... I know you've never actually been here. Please, just stay close to me, okay?" I say nervously.
"Of course, Evie..... where do think Mal, Jay, and Carlos could be hiding?" Ben quietly asks me.
"Oh, I KNOW where. Our old secret hideout, in the abandoned warehouse..." I say, whipping around when I feel someone trying to steal my purse. "Stop it! Get off!" I say, softening when I see that it's just two little kids, most likely abandoned lost boys with no parents. "Just...take it." I say, letting them keep the money that was in my purse. Seeing this makes me feel more horrible.
"Evie, are you okay!?" Ben asks me, worry on his face.
"Yes, I'm fine, Ben... I'm more worried about you than anything." I say, and Ben affectionately holds me in his arms. I blush, being held in his strong, muscular arms always makes me swoon.
"Let's go to the hideout you mentioned, Evie. We'll try and be as quick as possible, and the five of us will go back to Auradon together." Ben says, holding my hand.
"Well, before that... I need to pay an old friend a visit." I say, smiling a little and touching my brown hair. "I really need a touch up... this won't take long!" I smile more, very excited to go to a certain hair salon. Dizzy is going to freak out when she sees who my boyfriend is!
