«APRIL'S POV»
CHAPTER TWO

The Night Before Chapter One:

Hitching my bag on my back and blinking away the tears that threatened to escape, I was about to open the door when I heard a voice. A very familiar voice.

"April, where are you going?"

I winced and turned around swiftly, grabbing Waverlie by the wrist and sprinting back to our room, her following me tout de suite. Once the door was closed and locked I let out a breath of relief and looked at Waverlie sadly. The petite six year old will probably be the only thing or person I'll miss from this horrible city.

Besides Patty, of course, my conscience corrected. I sigh and crouch down to her level, my brown hair was falling on my face and Waverlie moved the strands and giggled cutely causing me to smile and kiss her cheek. "I'm going...on a journey." I decide to say, speaking lowly so that I won't get caught fleeing this hell-hole. I didn't want to tell her that I was leaving and probably never coming back because I couldn't bare to see her break down in tears.

"Really, what are you looking for?" She awed, her light grey eyes were staring into my soul, and if it were anybody else I would've made my eyes the epitome of the word emotionless, but it's Waverlie and I could never do that to her.

"I'm looking for myself." I answered simply, causing her to laugh.

"But you're right here silly!" She hugged my legs and I put my arms around her neck.

"Physically yes. But not really." I concluded and kneeled down so she could kiss my cheek.

"Okay!" She exclaimed. "Well go find...umm yourself?" She finished, obviously confused by my words.

"That's exactly what I'm planning to do." I bopped her button nose.

She nodded enthusiastically and grinned. "You go do that and I'll be sure to eat your dessert in the meantime so it doesn't go bad."

I snorted and pinched her cheeks,"Yes, you do that."

"I love you, April." She whispered and peeked at me through her lashes.

I looked away, not allowing her to see the tears forming in my eyes."I love you so much, Wave." My voice cracked and I pulled the kid in for a tight hug.

She pulled away from me and looked at me in concern, "Don't cry." She pouted when she saw my glistening brown eyes. I nodded, promising that I won't cry even though crying is the only way my eyes can speak when my mouth can't explain how broken I feel. I promise myself I won't cry if it means that Waverlie will be happy.

But people say promises are meant to be broken, and I think I was meant to be broken as well.

"Hi, I've already arranged my flight. It's under my name, Nova Florence." I lied smoothly, smiling politely at the young woman as she typed the name in. I was able to get a fake ID from a classmate at school, it was a hard task, but doable.

The employee grimaced and glanced at me, "Flight D81, to Miami, Florida, am I right?" Her voice was so nasal it wasn't even funny but I held a cringe and nodded stiffly, trying to be as polite as possible.
