Tears filled hazel eyes met his dark brown ones, the hand holding papers trembled as Kiyah finally opened her mouth and asked in hoarse voice, "When!"
Saransh closed some distance between them, looking at her and uttered a word, "Yesterday."
"No, you are lying." She shoved him a little, making him take a step back.
"Divorce was filed just two weeks ago, right, well maybe three weeks, Arnav told me, it will take atleast four to five months, but, no... no..... its too good to be true."
"Arnav?" Saransh was puzzled but more to that he felt unease that there was some talk between them he didn't know off. He didn't like it but right now he knew what was important and it was to give an explanation to his beloved, so he started,
"If you use some connections, it doesn't take that long." He muttered slowly which prompted Kiyah to raise her head and stare at him again. Her gaze probing him to continue further,
"I had wronged you enough Kiyah, but do you really expect me to come to your parents as your lover while on papers I am with someone else. I will die in shame and guilt than do that!" His words made Kiyah started at him intently, her mouth opened then closed. Saransh brought his hand to caressed her cheek, adoring her tear filled gaze.
"The moment I saw you again in my office, I found myself as if I finally woke up from a nightmare. That moment I had no other thought than to just follow you. Leave every relation behind which made me away from you. But still there was a little logical part left which cursed me, saying 'Ansh you don't deserve her, she hates you, you are stuck in you nightmare forever', otherwise would I really wait until now!" He chuckled wryly.
"Then there was my sister's marriage pending, I couldn't be selfish and think about myself right? Divorce is big thing and it would definitely affect Saira's delicate relation with her new family but thanks to you, I can be relieved now as Ishaan is there to protect her and care for her. I also slowly transferred everything in Shivin bhai's hands leaving capable people to assist him. And when everything was finally taking it's true shape, I knew it was time to leave. And that very moment I proposed divorce."
"you work hard." Kiyah murmured, hesitating a little before hugging him close. Her heart ached for him. He prioritized his siblings wellbeing instead of leaving mess behind.
They unknowingly shifted towards her bed, still engulfed around each other. Saransh patted her head affectionately as he spoke further.
"It was going to take some time and after Saira's wedding, I was going to say my final goodbye to my family, going to give Daksha her property with interest, making sure she is in good hands, Haha.... don't look at me like this, she is how saira is to me and her grandfather gave her responsibility to me so I need to atleast fulfill it. Then I was going to come beg you. Everything was sorted, I just needed some patience but that day when I saw you so distress and alone in my house and I couldn't even stand close to you, I lost it all, seeing someone else offering you comfort, be it my best friend made me jealous and angry at myself, at my fate and at everyone. That frustration lead to that accident but I am glad for it..."
"Shhhh don't talk like that!" She glared at him while covering his mouth.
"Okay, still I am glad."
"Ansh!"
His laugh ringed throughout the room as Kiyah pinched and rubbed his cheeks in irritation. When she understand that it was doing nothing to him, she put some distance between them, sitting further away with her back to him.
"Okay, sorry I will never say it again, don't be angry my little kitten." He poked her shoulder but when she turned and stared at him, his hand paused mid-way, hanging awkwardly in the air. It was a silent pause for few seconds before Kiyah spoke again,
